• Food for thorpe.......great name great service and the food, Excellent although I say so myself as I own the place oops .. well no one is going to write a revue unless stirred to do so. I will make this short and to the point guys. Since opening about 8 weeks ago (late August) I have had nothing but praise from the wonderful locals about the quality of my food, the favourites being my prime topside baguettes with horse raddish and ground black pepper and Hog roast Loin of pork all cooked to order in full view of the customers for only £2.50 ( shops in Norwich doing the same for £3.99) I am adding to the menu all the time I also cook in store Chicken breast, drycure bacon, ham on the bone, farm sausages pilgrims choice strong cheese, crayfish tails (big prawns) and much more to come...my only worry is in Thorpe is the very low footfall (passers by) I am totally relient on reputation this is a rather risky situation and it will be a case of use me or lose me which would be a crying shame as the people that have tried me keep coming back even little old ladies for their ham rolls on friday .thanks girls. I have an apology to make as well sorry for not being open very early in the morning I have kids I need to get to school as I am a single parent (dating advert) !! Until I get reliable staff.. and I have tried a few.. I have jst started a real chef who has been training for the job for a couple of years and has worked in all the foody pubs in Thorpe although he will only be with me for the six week college break, we will work closely to come up with some great new ideas and get Food for Thorpe firmly on the map please come in and try us then you can write a real revue..... • The Olive Branch used to be a good place to eat, since the new owners took over (July 2003 I think) the place has gone downhill rapidly! The female owner (of a husband and wife team) is arrogant to the core so don't even think about telling her your food is cold! It's now 2005 and it's getting worse by the day - avoid it at all costs! The Rose and Crown is very pleasant though.
• anyone remember the fire in Chinese Cottage brought under control by myself and another new villager as the chinese didn'y have a clue and the place would have burnt down if we were not there, what did we get as a reward? A special dinner but had to pay for the wine!!!!! Gratitude for you
• Is Piggy's still going???? Classic.
• Lots of average to good restraunts aimed at middel and uper incomes for the area who obviously travel to the village to eat cause there are roughly two table places for every resident. having said that most are new and trendily "quaint" Recommend "The olive branch" formerly the maidens head, excelent service and great staff, management a little to stressed to complete the perfect qualification but tolerent of small kids and well frequented. prices are not cheap for rural standards but it is on edge of london commuter belt and as such 20 a head for main course wine and coffee is not bad. A great place to impress for young couples. and good for exploring seaside and local area.
• Very nice food in the Chinese Restaurant. Fish and Chip/Chinese takeway is not as good as Kirby Fisheries - the number 1 chip shop in Tendring.
• Chip shop,chinese restaraunt, 2 english restaraunts.
