- Thurnscoe was recently brought to light in the guise of a fictional novel titled "S63". www.amazon.co.uk
The book is fiction, but crudely portrays the minds of most males brought up in the village(Class of 80-82). There are characters and buidings that you can relate to.
- someone has already said it but the wicked sense of humour and freindship of the villagers.
- The local sense of humour.
- the best thing when I lived here was the culture and the community spirit. growing up in the miners strike I learnt to universtand what community spirit and socialism is about, something which has influenced my life, career and politics.
- The governmet is trying to breath new life into the Dearne Valley area, including Thurnscoe. The old Pit tops have now been turned into Industrial Units for new ventures. I would love to see the old village rejuvinated in this way.
