Favourite Building in Tipton, West Midlands*

Art deco, contemporary, futuristic, tall, short...

Favourite Building
  • I really have to agree with Tipton's (original) library being my favorite building. At one time it was a very nice place to find some peace, being surrounded by a wonderful park. The smell and look of this building reflects a prostigious, cosmopolitan image of Tipton that is extremely lacking in most other parts of the town, including Owen Street. Worse, the park surrounding it has remained intact but it's seems to be a haven for groups of unruly youths, some of whom appeared to make a target for me because I was white. Then there is the problem of some locals clearing their throats and spitting everywhere they go, which I find disgusting. No wonder people avoided this area..it wasn't because if the library I think. A building like this library, and the park that surrounds it, should not be in this state. Anyone who used to used it will know what I am talking about, and there's no end of uses it could serve these days, including web-cafes and civic duties.
  • The library, it's undoubtedly an attractive building however the council neglected it and the surround area is effectively Tipton Taliban country, including the adjacent park area. what a shocking legacy.
  • the old tipton library
  • The Station Hotel. Well-maintained, reminiscent of times gone by. The place is haunted and you certainly get an atmosphere when there. The hotel also has a nice bar. Sadly, the local council has eradicated most of the better history of these towns, running buildings into the ground whilst focussing on nameless projects. The council wastes millions in Smethwick and can't balance the books (lost £4m), but there are a few privatly-owned establishments that have not ceded to council pressure. The Station Hotel is one such building.
  • the Tipton tower - an exact replica of the Eiffel Tower, based in princes End.
  • Tipton Library. A listed building, now boarded up by our very own council which has other, "multi-cultural" schemes taking priority; in fact, the only reason this splendid building was mentioned was because some wiz suggested it would be a great "community" centre. In the meantime the local tribes have declared it their's (much the same as the park at the back of the library)
  • anywere that sells beer
  • The former tipton Library,But it's all boarded up. Thanks Sandwell Council
  • my house of course
  • Tipton Library. However it's been left in a state for ages whilst a new one is build in Owen Street. Despite being a LISTED building the council won't do anything to protect - which is what they typically do to all-things Tipton..
  • The library in Park Lane East. Been there 100+ years and despite being expensive to renevate (currently boarded up), it deserves protection as a listed building - it should always be there to remind uss of our past.
  • What's happened to the Library? Andy's Fish and Chip Shop! The swimming baths. My Mom's house where I can great free dinners!
  • The old Tipton library, a listed Carnegie building with a lovely exterior. Now, sadly, closed and all boarded up by the Council.
  • The swimming baths.
