There is still a Joe Blakesley alive in Tipton now he is in his 70's he married his second cousin June Wilkins who has now died (my Mum's sister) complicated? They shared the same grandparents Joseph Blakesley(born 1860) and Mary Ann Blakesley around born 1860. There is a relative on the side of Joseph Blakesley (1860) that ended up in Canada that I saw on the web. Joseph Blakesley was a wheelwright 1881 census, blacksmith by 11887 and a maltster in 1916. My Mum has photographs of the family as she was adopted by her Dad's Mother's sister (her great aunt) named Maud Billingsley who was a Blakesley before marriage her Mother and father were Joseph and Mary born 1860 tipton. Maud Billingsley (nee Blakesley) died around 1952 she could never have children of her own and adopted my Mum who was born 1940 as her own mother died when she was 6 weeks old. Mum said of Maud Billinglsey (nee) Blakesley that she was wonderful with children and walked them everywhere and was very fond of Dudley Zoo, she kept everything for best all embroidered napkins and such like and bought my Mum 2 of everything a very proud person. Joe Blakesley who is alive today in his 70s enjoyed scuba diving. I have photographs of Joseph born 1860 and Mary born around 1860 and of Mary Eva Blakesley born early 1900's if you want to get in touch.

A relative of mine was killed in an accident in a Foundry in Tipton in 1935 and I would like to find out a little more if I can. My great Grandmother Elizabeth Flanagan married a Samuel Paskin. His younger brother, Alfred married Annie Cherrington (children unknnown). He had three other brothers William, John and Joseph(married Elizabeth), and sisters Hannah and Alice. Alice married John Willisford. Can anyone relate to any of these? Jon Smith Reply

I am looking for any information about the Clamp family who were born in Princes End and moved to Barrow in Furness between 1881 & 1901. The head of the family was John Clamp (b1831),sons John (b approx 1883) & Issac (b approx 1865) both of whom were coal miners and I think Sarah Jane Clamp their sister (b approx 1867). Hi, I'm looking for info on my great great gran Eliza Blakesley. She was born in Princes end Tipton in 1873. I have drawn a blank on any other information and can't find her in any census follwing until 1901 - after she was married and became Eliza Horton.
