On January 25th 1948 twin boys were born to Vera Owers Sutherland at the Thelma Nursing Home, (now closed). The twins were adopted seperately and we are trying to find one of them. Do you know anything about this? Did you work there? Did Vera stay with you? Were you involved with the solicitor who handled the adoption? Any information would be good. Thanks Lynne Reply

We are a small growing company offering visiting to care homes, but also home support visits. If you are going away, time is limited, or, for whatever reason, you feel that your loved one needs some special time or support with a one to one visitor in their home or care setting then we feel we can help. This can be temporary or permanent. Our staff are mostly of a qualified caring backgroun d, and reguarly CRB checked and fully insured. They are also chosen because of their caring, patient and warm personalities. Please rest assured, we do not employ anyone, but rather anyone who is special. In most cases, a visitor will be matched to ensure continuity with the aim of building a trusting relationship. We can offer activities such as reading, reminiscing, trips out, personal shopping, in fact anything at all ...within reason !! Our visitors will always take a person centred approach, which means choice is always left to the individual. Having worked in care homes for many years, the one thing I noticed was that one to one time was extremely limited. Carers are just often too busy, and activities were geared more towards a group (which is good but sometimes not for everyone). Just a chat can brighten someones day, dementia patients can often be staring at a tv screen for hours on end, when a walk outside could lift their spirits and enhance their health. New residents to care settings are often distressed and bewildered, and there is usually little time to spare for them as they try to settle in. In all of these, and many more, areas, we have found our services to be comforting and greatly appreciated.
