The Worst Things in Totnes, Devon*
The entirely missable and worth mentioning because of it
You can tell us more about Totnes.

- An expensive place to live. And nowhere to park!
- Wann be hippies and new agers, who have forgotten that Hippes and New Agers were traditionallly broke and couldn't afford shoes from shops in Totnes costing 70quid a pair, or pure cotton clothes and gree life grub. They make up the community of 'The Conrived Hippy'....stuck up and so full of their own self importance and 'henna'
- EVERYTHING else.
- EVERYTHING!!!
- Currently youths attacking people for no reason and vandalising shops, houses, vehicles etc. why bother? There is more to do here for a young person than in the town where I came from (very close to a big city).
- The walk from the Steam Packet pub along Warlands and up town encompasses:
a nice residential road which is used as a scrappers (local council/police do nothing to stop this)onto the plains which is becoming one big taxi rank;up the hill through the delightful old town clogged up with carbon belching vehicles(local council/police etc...nothing to do with local shopkeepers on the council at all....)lots of empty shops and shops trying to set up business for next to nothing and then quickly closing (a rack of cheap clothes;some tacky glass nick nacks). Also, note the 'locals',three years ago this was, as Richard Digance said in a rubbish documentary, the 'alternative capital' of Britain now its inhabited by economic migrants from the South East who are pushing up house prices out of the reach of the local populace and diluting the very community which they admired in the first place.
- -The few minded people in the town that have attituded against people such as the tarts.
-There isn't a very stronge influence of police.
-Dirty travelers are allowed to drink in the "no drinking zone" through the day without being moved on.
-Alot of 70's hippies concensed into one place, being sucked in and never leaving.
- having a shower afterwards
- the worst thing is the bloody hippies!!!
- The either/or ness of the place. Either you're a card carrying hippy crusty type, with "look-how-individual-I-am" de riguer baggy jumper and hair that smells of sheep, or your a right wing, green welly wearing, send-em-back-where-they-came-from nazi. Totnes tries SO hard to be Glastonbury. It gets very very tiresome.
- I think mainly pot smoking!!
- The HOUSE PRICES...eeeek.
- Coral Cave!
- No cinema, no Super-Bowl, not much to do - can be a blessing, can be a curse.
- The snobbery "we wear wellies darling and we live on a farm": NO YOU DONT you live in a nice little farmhouse and your livestock consists of one bloody hen and a couple of dogs !! The eccentricity gets to you after a while until you feel almost compelled to punch someone. The other thing is that Totnes is so bloody far away from "civilisation" which to me means decent takeaway, nightlife, clothes and music shops, cinema, ANYTHING !!
