High tea and a sticky bun

You can tell us more about Tunbridge Wells.

Cafes and Coffee Shops
  • we all love nero although this has changed after the smoking ban..........naked cofee is where is at.
  • Java Bean in the High Street does a wicked eggs benedict.
  • java on old high street, neros are a bit stressy but its okay really.
  • Puccinos! Closed for refurb at the minute, but much a good time to be had there.
  • javabean on the high street - good food if you can get it - they ask you what you want and then forget to order from the kitchen - and when you complain nicely they don't apologise or even let you have your coffee for free - although the staff never seem to forget to order their own food
  • a popular one in T.Wells is, of course NERO!! theres hundreds in tunbridge wells e.g. starbucks and costa to name just two. theres also a an amazing little shop called "Bean" which is the greatest thing since cafes were created. Its slightly expensive but they sell fairtrade products and donate loads of their profit to charities. they do hundreds of flavours of milkshakes and if you are EVER looking for some obscure sweets then theyll probably have them :]
  • Cafe Nero
  • O'Brians in RVP
  • It's got to be Starbucks....
  • I used ot go to Costa, but was in Crowborough one day and found a place in the high street that does coffee and especially great cheesecakes, all sorts, I travel out of TW now for my coffee and food, Iyou should give it a try, it's well worht the trip to crowborough.
  • Nero, Costa, Muffin Break, Fenwicks Cafe and Starbucks are all good if you have spare money. If you're a bit tight for cash there's Seattle Espresso.
  • its the place to be if your 15 years old trying to be cool, or an annoying twiggs girl in 6th form trying to pull or look cool sitting with ur cup of 'coffee' (which is actually hot chocolate) sitting upstairs cos u can smoke... oooooh! or u could just genuinly want a coffee!
  • bean milkshake bar sweets and chocolates
  • Muffin Break
  • calverly....big chips
  • Cafe Nero is the best coffee shop ever in tunbridge Wells. Not only do the coffees cost less than £2, if you get to know the fitties who work there! They can work out extra stamps on your loyalty card! And you can see the whole precint out of the window! It is our central perk. Also Puccinis on monson road is not bad either, although pricey, and Bean on Camden Road sells milkshakes in every imaginable flavour, such as 'Orange Aero and marshmallow'
  • Sigor Francos... the best Italian in the world..!
  • look out for new bar opening in Camden Road Tunbridge Wells it is Rock n Roll & Elvis themed and will be Rockin
  • Cafe Nero
  • Cafe Vianne down Camden Road. Take your games along and your CD's. Friday mornings for chess.
  • Costa all the way.
  • D'Ambrosia's long gone. Subs and Spuds was so empty each day, it was embarrassing just to walk past - now out of its misery. Try the new Cafe Vianne farther down Camden Road - play your own cd's (if you ask nicely!) occasional chess (just to raise the atmosphere)WAITING TO BE DISCOVERED
  • costa, but really only for old posh farts or twigs girls
  • CAFE VIANNE down Camden Road on the right and only opened this year, is still full of potential. Tables on two floors and the people who run it are pretty laid back, will play your CD's and rearrange the tables to suit customers' requirements. Turns into a minor chess venue Friday mornings. Well worth a visit or two.
  • CAFE NERO IN THE RVP AND FLUTIS NEAR THE RAILWAY STATION-THEY MAKE FRESH SANDWICHESOF YOUR CHOICE
  • Cafe Nero and Starbucks for that coffee fix.
  • costa and cafe nero are nice
  • The cafe in Dunorlan Park has superb views - or did - it looks like Beirut at the moment. Evidently it is popular with the police for breakfast! Great cup of tea and the brekkies (at any time) ARE great. Can't beat Dunorlan - I've loved it for 30 years, since I was old enough to realise where I was. The cafe at Market Square in Camden Road used to do amazing old fashioned poached eggs on toast. MMM
  • everwhere! costa does the best chocolate, nero has cool seats bit is always crowded and has dodgy workers, startbucks is ok to sit outside when it's hot but a bit grubby inside. there's a small cafe with tables in victoria centre by the side exit onto the pedestrian street-they give discounts to people working in the centre, and the latest is muffin break- the muffins are naff but the caramel slices are out of this world.
  • Obviously Costa is the greatest. Overpriced but the baristers are DIVINE
  • Unfortunately dambrosias has gone leaving a plethore of expensive coffee bars
  • Cafe Nero is nice although costs more to drink in. If you get on one of the sofas you could sit a long time in there
  • loads but i dont know the names
  • erm.... starbucks is nice in the town centre
  • Puchinnos used to be nice, not anymore though, bit of a dump. Hammonds in the Pantiles is nice for a latte or capuccinno. Good on a sunny day, sit outside.
  • not costas u get kiked out
  • Cafe Nero oh so smokey........
  • Costa, Cafe Nero, random places in the Victoria Place but... no Starbucks?!
  • Dambrosios (I think that is how you spell it. I worked there when I was 14 and was paid £1.00 per hour, this was back in 1991
  • Calverly Cafe! its cheap, nice and they make the best hot chocolate! Remember to say hi to the cool (if not slightly camp) owner for me! Oh and remember no chavs, wanna-bes or "cool" pot heads.
  • costa, nero and *bucks
  • the usual Starbucks, Costa and Cafe Nero. House of Java's ok. Calverly Cafe gets a thumbs up - reasonable prices and friendly and in a nice park (when it's not full of chavs bottling each other).
  • Starbucks aint bad - but teachers and old people hang out ther. i no.
  • Cafe nero! great place to chill and the sofas are welllll comfy. But i warn you not to go to costa to relax as the manager 'If YOUR NOT BUING ANYTHING GET OUT' you have been warned(he is a bit uptight!
  • Mount Pleasant Coffee shop by the station - THE greasy spoon, but Wonderful..!
  • Costa was the place to be seen a few years back but now there are so many...Starbucks, Nero, Madisons, Espresso....
  • Costa!!!
  • lots for old ladies, no starbucks or burger king though
  • you name it thers bound to be one....costa for those of you who want to die young and starbucks if accuiring lung cancer isnt on the top of ur priority list
  • There are only two places to get a non-dairy capuccino (or whatever)... Starbuck's in Calverley Row, and the coffee shop under the stairs in Victoria Place. They will do soya milk if you ask them. Ask any other coffee shop in RTW and you get a puzzled, faintly dismissive "no mate, dunno". Oh, also try the fab Continental Flavour opposite Trinity Arts - great place to get decent (non-junk, non-crap) food. I think it's run by a nice Czech lady.
  • Subs 'n' spuds!!! Only opened last week. I like Ambrosios as well (i'm glad this is anonymous!!)
  • Costa
  • costa costa costa, starbucks
  • Well it did sell tea once, the most famous cream teas in the South-East, accounting for the 'Oceans of Cream' painted on the side of the oasthouse (if that hasn't gone too), because The Old Barn burned down some time ago. I haven't been to look at the ashes, but I am curious as to why. If anyone knows, please tell me. Also putting this in pubs, music & clubs. (Dated 9.7.2000)
  • Costas, Starbucks, Pucchinos, Fenwick, Madisons and others, they're not hard to find and are pretty good.
  • The main food hall in Royal Victoria Place is a noisy, tasteless and altogeather unpleasant place to sit and have a drink in. However, Just off of the food hall is a small Italian Resteraunt called Cafe Giardino. This is much quieter and more relaxing than the main food hall; and it offers a wide variety of yummy drinks, pastries and Italian food at reasonable prices! I strongly suggest that next time you in need of a break whilst shopping in Victoria Place you go to Cafe Giardino!!
