Can anyone tell me the name of the cemetery in Turriff??? Not the one by St. Congans as I think it used to be called Auld Kirk. How do you find where a grave might be? Is there anyone who works at an office at the cemetery that can give me plot info.

Yes, Harry Orlandi was fined for using whole milk for making his ice-cream during the war!!
Was it not Cramond's dairy at that time, before Andy Lyon took it over?
Your Harry Orlandi still has the shoppie.

I was born in Turriff Cottage Hospital in the late 50s. Some Saturdays I used to travel with my granny from Cuminestown (in the days of a regular bus service) to Turra. It was a big day out, always rewarded with a chocolate crispie cornflake cake from Cheyne's shop. Sometimes an icecream from Orlandi's. The visit to Cheyne's was always the last before turning the corner above Cheyne's to wait for ... more >>

Rae Family by J. Rae (Member 10072530) on 23-Apr-2003
Our whole family is planning to visit Turriff in late july. My husbands great grandfather Alexander Rae was born in Turriff in 1823 and went to Canada, not sure of that date. He had two brothers John and James and one sister Barbara. If there are any relatives there, we would like to meet some of them. Please write if you have any information. Thank you.
  • Re: Rae Family by J. Rae (Member 10072530) on 18-Jan-2004
I would like to know the name of the old cemetery at the end of Castle Street (I think). There is a ruin of a church there. It is the oldest cemetery in Turriff. What denomination was it? My husband's gggrandfather and his family are buried there.

  • Re: Rae Family by Charles Dickie (Member 10117846) on 19-Feb-2004
The cemetery is by the ruins of the St Congans
church I think. IT was called the Auld Kirk and would have been presbyterian
