  • brook house is kicking at weekends
  • The Good Yarn has started playing music so has gone up in my estimation over the past few months, but is also smoke-free which can be a plus or a minus depending. The Ostler is cheaper than the Spoons these days and turns into a bar and stays open quite late these days too. For a more mature person, try the Crown and Sceptre... definately not one for the kids! When you win the National Lottery there is Nazdarovya. Its sexy, classy and damn expensive at about £5 a drink!
  • Swan and bottle is one of the best pubs in Uxbridge - you don't get any trouble here. It is also right by the canal which is a plus! The metropolitan is good for cheap drinks! Bar rouge is the best place to go and it is full of nice, classy people. You don't get any uxbridge slappers here (they can't afford it!!!) Brunel University's SU bar and Bishops Bar are a good place to go to. The SU bar often has very cheap drinks!
  • For the start of you night, your first stop should be the Hogs Head. Not too expensive, nice atmosphere and mad pinball. It has a pool table but is quite expensive at about £1.50 a game!! If you leave just before ten you can get into Zanzi Bar before you have to pay. Also it turns over 21's so the yonger crowd leaves and you get a seat! Great Bar Garden, ok prices, a great mix of music plus it is open till two!
  • Re. pubs in Denham Village: http://www.knowhere.co.uk/122_eatdrink.html quote " You might bump into Sir John Mills in the pub." Not any more you won't.
  • Update on George and Dragon, Yiewsley (May '05); Pub now owned by Greene King, hence a good pint of ale normally to be had. Us "oddbods" still grace the establishment, but the pricing policy ( everything under £2) tends to attract the dregs of society at weekends.
  • THE OLD BILL: A legend in it's own right. it's a bit young in there nowdays, but depends on how old you are. sometimes at 21 i feel old, but do visit... it normally has a good vibe, and if your from uxb, your probably going to bump into someone you know.. Great to sit outside in the sun in the summer. And when they open the outside bar, that's also cool as everyone parties outside.. but with all the extra people, expect a wait for the loo, after trying to get to it for 5 mins, and when you do... no loo roll!
  • Baroosh is always a favourite with the smarter folks of Uxbridge. During the week it's a good place to go for a quiet'ish drink and some tasty tucker! Fri/Sat nights Baroosh gets rammed with pre-Royals goers and happy party people.
  • THE OLD BILL SIMPLY THE BEST!!
  • Come to the Gardners arms 24park road uxbridge. Pool only 50p a game and nice bar staff. We would like to see more friendly faces. maybe you might make a new friend or two. (not far from the main town)
  • The good yarn, the botwell inn in hayes - both wetherspoons definite places to be cheap drinks! Good pubs however, the crown and treaty!!!! If you wanna have a party the turning point in cowley very good parices there is a website!
  • All crap. Don't bother. Stay in with a good movie like 'Troll' or 'Krull'.
  • Theres only really one pub u can mention in uxbridge The Good Yarn, with the up-em-selves bouncers, (probally more scared of the butch blonde woman than the guy), Cheapiest drinks in town, have too many there and u know where you'll end up Royales! Always the same crowd, always the same shit smelling toilets!
  • Why has no one mentioned the hogshead? its proper bo!
  • JJ Moons was always a good place to go when I was at Bishop Ramsey, didn't go there once I turned 18 though, had passed that place by then and it is v.boring.
  • What can i say about the Chiltern View in Uxbridge .Well not alot apart from the beer now is shit and the landlord after a couple of guiness`s gets very moody. And the decor has HOTSPOTS woo woo.
  • The Queen's Head has just been refurbished (Aug '03) and is a lovely little pub, Annie the manageress is very friendly, and there are some very hot american barmaids!!!!
  • plently of pubs of the top of my head there is the old bill (which has just been renovated (aug 2003)), the metropolation (again been renovated - cant remember the date), the queens head, three tuns, hogshead, auburge, zanzi bar, the good yarn, the crown and spectre... all okish
  • The Coachmans is a freindly pub it is just outside Uxbridge on the 222 bus route. There is a friendly atmosphere and they serve an excellent well priced Sunday roast.
  • Crown and Treaty, also know as the Crutch and Titties!
  • Lots, Good Yarn, Metropolitan, Old Bill, Three Tuns, Crown & Treaty(Ancient Treaty House), Queens Head, Baroosh, Hogshead, and thats just around the town centre!
  • I like 'The Militia Canteen'its on the junction between Villiers street and Elthorne road, about 200yds from Brunel uni though not usually frequented by students. It's only a small pub but has a lively music scene, 'Elliot' a local 'Joe cocker' sound alike usualy play's on Wednesday nights,Thursday's and Saturday's are Kareoki nights, Friday's are usualy an open music session where locals turn up with guitars and stuff and the landlord leaves tambourines etc lying about So's the punters can join in general musical mayhem, good laugh! Sunday's the same as Friday...well worth a look! word of warning, the drinks are a bit pricey and don't plan on leaving before 11!!
  • Nuff pubs. Good Yarn offers much cheapness. House special- double vodka, doubl;e malibu and a reef in a pint glass with plenty of ice for under a fiver. Oll bill for flange. Metropolitan for Rugby boys. Barush for dikes. Hogs head for class
  • The Metropolitan (formally Scruffy Murphys)is the best pub is the world. It has cosy little corners so you wont be bothered by any freaks, andthe service is friendly. Although I miss the Juke-box - bring it back! Baroosh is brilliant too, you will forget ur in Uxbridge and the building really makes the town look nice! The Old Bill is nice and historic - it used to be a police station, hence the name. The Three Tuns has an indoor garden thing - nice! The HogHeads is nice and modern, although it doesnt have a pub feel. Comfy sofas though! Loads more pubs. Interesting fact - Uxbridge had 55 pubs in total back in the 1800s, so this area was always full of alcos!
  • there is a few pibs that are ok theres the old bill which is always packed so u dont end up spendin that much money on drink as they are bought for u by the bloke at the end of bar who then nods his head thinkin hes some hard nut coz hes got gel in his hair and a really silly pretty obviously fake soveriegn. the hogs head is a pretty call coffe/bar place especially on a friday night.
  • The Landlord at the Queen's Head has changed & Scruffy's has changed back to being The Metropolitan.
  • the old bill but its full of old slappers
  • theres the old bill but thats a slappers pub
  • Queens Head - full of people drinking on their own. Good Juke box though. Old Bill - full of young lads spoiling for a fight after too much C. Metropolitan - Very dull, too many rugby types singing about each others willies - better than Scruffy Murphys though especially as the 'bucket for the CAUSE' doesn't get passed around now. Ye Olde Ostler - avoid at all costs unless you want a screwdriver in your face The Crown and Sceptre - See Olde Ostler The Good Yarn - cheap, not too bad if you don't like music. Big drawback is the 2 mile hike to the toilet. The Three Tuns - Best of a bad lot - nice conservatory in the summer but gets VERY busy on a Friday and Saturday.
  • For God's sake don't go into the Crown & Sceptre thinking it's a Wetherspoons, as someone on here suggested. The Good Yarn is the Wetherspoons, but it isn't the greatest Wetherspoons around - too long and narrow. The best pub in Uxbridge is the Pipemakers on Rockingham Road. Mike, the landlord, actually cares about keeping his beer in good condition (that's brown stuff, not pissy lager). Some newer Uxbridge pubs can't even be bothered to serve decent beer. Don't go to Queen's Head. Agree that management are miserable gits. Why do these people bother to work in the public services; they obviously hate us! Speaking of which, the landlord of the Turning Point (potentially best pub in the area) is contender for most inhospitable git in the world. Don't go in the Chiltern View if you value your life.
  • Again, a couple of decent ones. The Metropolitan has decent music and good food. There's a few pubs scattered around the centre, all look nice.
  • The Vine, top of Hillingdon Hill, friendly people.
  • The Vine Hillingdon hill.Nice clean (suspicious substances) well run - no idiots. Good pub food. The Queens head - cool, Three tuns great pub - just a little busy sometimes
  • These days, the "trendy" young patrons like The Hogshead, next to The Chimes and conveniently placed near the Cinema. For those who prefer a friendly atmosphere, I recommend The Good Yarn at the other end of the high street. Since it's J.D.Wetherspoon, the drinks are cheaper too! An extra advantage is the kebab shop next door if you feel a little peckish at chuckout time. The Good Yarn does close slightly early though, normally getting the majority out of the door by 11:15.
  • I don't know where anyone has got their info but Scruffys is full of unpopular geeks and no local with self respect would dare to be seen there, same goes for good yawn. Old Bill is crowded but friendly and good to sit in the beer garden in the summer, and the new pub the Hogshead brings a bit more life to Uxbridge. It gets busy at weekends and they put up their prices, but at least that keeps away the kids. Finally, yes Regals (or Discotheque Royales as it is now known) is a tacky, cheesy dive but hey, it's a laugh... and there is no lack of entertainment... you can laugh at people trying to be cool all night!
  • Try the Heath on the Uxbridge Road for fights every night of the week inside and outside, can get a bit packed though. Thursday nights and any night that isn't a school night tend to attract a younger crowd! very loud.
  • TRY THE ABROOK ARMS (HAREFIELD ROAD) FOR A GOOD BEER TASTY FOOD AT REASONABLE PRICES AND WATCH OUT FOR THE DOG (HARMLESS BUT GRUMPY) JUST LIKE THE LANDLADY! AVOID THE QUEENS HEAD AFTER 9PM IT STINKS WHEN THE DRAINS FILL UP.
  • The new hogshead is nice but gets a bit packed with kids on the way to royales! oh dear.
  • What about the Crown And Treaty pub on the outskirts of Uxbridge on the Oxford Road. Definitely worth a visit has alternative/Rock nites and discos at weekends and every Friday and Saturdaty night upon till 12.00.
  • there is the heath tavern which is really cool pub where all of the fit birds go and there are usually loads of fights that are quite entertaining!
  • The Turning Point - unwelcoming and hostile landlord whose beer and food are over-priced. Order chicken supreme and the rice costs extra! Come off it Mike.
  • Only three reasonable pubs, The Good Yarn (Cheap drinks), The Old Bill (Not bad), The Hoggs Head (Good looking crowd, Very busy, Mission to get a drink)
  • theres a new pub-the hogshead down the highstreet
  • Three Tuns for good, well kept beer and obsesive ashtray cleaning. The Old Bill for wankers. Scruffy Murphys for a decent pint and somewhere to sit down. Queens Head for bikers and metalheads (or it used to be). Crown and Sceptre for a FRESH FACED crowd, and maybe a fight or two. Late licence
  • The Wetherspoons pub opposite Tesco is an absolute cack-hole! a group of us went there and witnessed a women chucking up all over the carpet (the consistency of mash potato) and then just leave without even telling anyone. There was another woman who had an insane laugh which was a cross between a hyena and a witch and could be heard SO loudly. Then there were the scary old men that sat at tables on their own, licking their lips at people! is this a cross section of the uxbridge community?!
  • The Good Yarn (Wetherspoons) has the usual good, cheap range of drinks, and acceptable food that arrives on time. Rather long and thin (really long bar), but enough bouncers to keep the youths away.
  • The three tuns has the best looking staff, the landlord, however can be quite rude. All suits in the day. The 'Good Yarn' for cheep drinks.
  • Ye Olde Ostler squire!
  • Pubs that are shit in Uxbridge and full of moronic Uxbridge blokes are:- Continetals, The Crown and Ceptre, The Good Yarn, The Old Bill. Really only the Crown and Treaty (Near Rank Xerox) is the only pub that has a decent crowd. It is also the only pub that will allow you to have an opinion and choose songs from the Duke Box rather than blasting you with Fax machine music. The Queens Head, Scruffy Murphy's and The Three Tunns are also good, but beware the odd Uxbridge nob wondering in wanting a pint of Stella or Bud.
  • The Old Bill is a good place to pick up a West Drayton slapper.
  • The Bull (Iver) The Shovel (outside on a summers eve) Cowley The Red Lion on Hillingdon Hill (weeknights only)
  • Adam & Eve, Hayes, O.K. friendly local pub, drinks reasonably priced, large function room for hire and some kind of music (small pub band or disco) at most weekends. Mainly Irish pub, pool tables and a bit of crack, ok for a chat and a laugh.
  • Scruffy Murphy's is the best they put shamrocks on your guinness!
  • The Old Bill is rammed full of peeps nearly all the time but will do
  • De Burgh Arms, West Drayton - Contrary to another posting, I found the gaffer OK, and the ale is pretty decent, alos reasonably priced by London standards. The Paddington Packet Boat, Cowley (on 222 bus route) - decent boozer, again with reasonably priced ale (Fuller's Chiswick in draught form - £1.55 in September 1999). Railway Arms, West Drayton - basic working man's boozer.
  • The General Elliot on Rockingham Rd backs onto the Grand Union Canal. Nice Pub, friendly staff and it never seems to get too crowded. Definately worth a walk out of Uxbridge for. I can't think of anything to recommend the Central Uxbridge Pubs, steer clear they all seem to be packed with 17 year old locals on their way to Discotheque Royale or whatever they're calling it now !
  • Windsor street is the best place, 3 pubs including "the old bill" Dance music on a friday and saturday, also "Scruffy Murphy's" a very nice place, contrast to the others. High street has a few, "The good yarn" is the best here, don't go to "The crown and sceptre" it's a complete shit hole, "The good yarn" is just a few shops down, go there, it's safer, cleaner, cheaper( £1.50 per pint). Best pub: Scruffy Murphy's, a generally nice safe pub, never any trouble Worst pub: Crown and sceptre, bit of a reputation, not very popular, very expensive
  • Are the pubs on the high street or is the high street in front of the pubs?
  • Loads of pubs though unfortunately they seem to suffer from being crowded with pretentious twats from the university (not all the locals are as brain dead as you seem to think they are) My favourite is the Three Tuns near the Tube station and also the crown and sceptre which is a Wetherspoons pub and as such does have cheap beer on special offer most weeks and occasionaly guest beers at special prices.
  • The Three Tuns for good food at lunch time, The Queen's Head or the Bill in most picturesque street in Uxbridge.
  • Try The George & Dragon, Yiewsley Central Good food, beer. ETC pub is full of oddbods and fun can be had by all. Don't go to the De Burgh in W Drayton, the pub is run by a little Hitler and you have to wait ages to get served
  • The Old Bill (Down Windsor Street), The Good YarnYawn (High Street)
  • Uxbridge has one saving grace, plenty of boozers. Three in Windsor Street including "The Old Bill" a dissused police station "The queens head" and also a quite trendy Irish pub. On the main high street there is Continentals and the Crown and sceptre, both a bit more winebarry, the good yarn a no music no smoking but generally quite busy pub and around the corner there is another popular place (but the name escapes me!!!) Apart from that there is the Three tuns quite nice but dont ever pick a fight about the food as they can be quite rude. Phew, hope that fills you in a bit more.... hic..
  • Don't go in the Queens head. The Landlord is miserable as hell. Also the town is very rough. Beware! Don't venture far alone.
  • The Shovel on the Grand Union Canal (5mins by bus) Also Harvester with cheap food before 6.30pm Denham village is original olde worlde and very busy. Several beamed ceiling pubs. You need a friend with a car but about 7mins from Town Centre. You might bump into Sir John Mills in the pub.
  • The Green Man (opposite RAF Uxbridge) has been turned into a fish and chip shop. I am only 15, so I don't know much about the pubs!
