THE DEANERY SCHOOL by Hazel Prosser (Member 10059516) on 19-Feb-2002
Hi. Would be nice to chat to old school friends who went to The Deanery in the very early 80's (around the time the school first opened). I was there from 1981 - 1983. The teachers would have been (the late) Mrs. Hellmuth, Miss Askew (the teacher with the fierce shout!!! Also the one that smoked funny brown fags .....), Mrs Hurley (who later I understand went on to haunt the poor kids at Willmo... more >>

    Hi Hazel,

I was at the Deanery school from 1982 until 1983..we moved to Australia in July of that year. I think I was in your class, we had Miss Askew as our 4th class teacher...she had a very scary shout! I remember the trip to Barnes Close...collecting pond life which then escaped! A group of us also went to France that year..but I don't think you came over with us. I still live in Australia... more >>

    Hi Rebecca

What was your surname? Did you by any chance go to Fiji whilst you were still at The Deanery? I know there was someone in my class who did. Yeah, you are right Miss Askew did have a very scary shout, but I had a lot of respect for her as a Teacher, and looking back I now realise she was one of the better ones I had throughout my school life. I would love to know what has happened... more >>

Hi Hazel...yes I did go over to Fiji during our last year. Then a couple of months later moved to Australia, just before we finished at the Deanery. My surname at the time was Ward. I remember you..you used to hang out with Catherine was it? I used to hang around Tory Plunkett, Sharon Killeen, Pam Badham etc.I refently visited the schoolfriends reunited site & found a whole list of our school fri... more >>

    Hi Rebecca

I've just stumbled across this website again as I'd forgotten all about it! Great to see you'd added another note. You're quite right, I used to go round with Kathryn Nicklin .. blimey that takes me back! She went to Bishop Walsh with Sharon Killeen and Pam Badham too. That's the last I heard from her sadly.
I have tried to find out what's happened to Miss Askew but no joy.

Hi Hazel, I also keep forgetting about this board! If you have already had your holiday in Oz then I hope it was a good one. If you haven't and are heading anywhere near central Queensland let me know as I live up in that area...we could always spin each other out and catch up for a drink or something! Catch you later, Bec :O)

    Hi Bec

I don't know if you still check this board out? This is the first time in absolutely ages I've done so. I actually went to Australia TWICE last year, but was based just outside of Melbourne. It would be great to keep in touch, so if you do still check this board out, then please do get back in touch. I'm hoping to come back to Aus next year though.

Look forward to hearing back fro... more >>
