The Best Things in West Kirby, Merseyside*
If you're around, be sure to check these things out
You can tell us more about West Kirby.
The Best Things
- Getting served as a 10 year old in the local off-license and getting pissed outta your fackin tree
- Sands
- Sands
- Wirral Way (shame they tore up the railway tracks as it would have done a roaring trade as apreserved steam railway)
- some of the people
- Fights on Fridays
- The monument!!!! Without a doubt. The best place to go to chill out and avoid the Scallies is the monnie on top of Black Horse Hill
- safeway
- beach and approximation of liverpool
- by the seaside by the sea. so close to l'pool and chester cities, but all in the middle of nowhere with the MOST SPECTACULAR VIEWS of merseyside and wales
- West Kirby URC for the friendliest church around.
- The beach, the Marine Lake, Hilbre Island, the Wirral Way, Ashton Park, all the pubs, all the cafes, all the restaurants, being near Liverpool yet still in a rural location, the hill and the woods, I live here which is obviously a reason to visit. Oh and cheap bus fares if you're a kid and a free bus pass if you're over 60, unfortunately this means expensive travel for the rest of us. The weather's not bad and the sunsets are indeed lovely as are the views of Wales.
- trimb is good fun
- wanking in the bushes in cubbins green, then dampening unsuspecting passer by
- No doubt about it- if you want the best view in the whole of west kirby, climb the pilons on the hill by calday school. Dodgy. (extremely dodgy) But you can see the whole of the wirral along both the Dee and the Mersey. Go along, size it up. Once your over the nasty spikey fence(requiring a team of about 3) you may aswell go up anyway.
- The sunsets, the beach, the Wirral Way.
- The beach, hearing the seals' cries drifting in on the wind, the sea, the sunsets.
- TS Hughes fishmongers (opposite the Concourse) has a superb selection of fresh fish. Good, friendly staff who are always pleased to pass the time of day with you.
- mr. roberts butchers shop and rooney and pontin hairdressers, and all the brilliant second-hand shops.
- The marine lake
Suhel Balti house (saifs to all those loyal regulars of the place)
The beach
Cubbins green (a place for those too young to go the pub but still wanna go out, get pissed and have a quality summers night with their mates)
Ring o bells pub, its ledgendary
The concourse sports centre,
- The Marine lake, the views across the Dee/Afon Dyfrdwy to Wales. The huge beach, watching windsurfers, both the experts and the posers, hundreds of yachts, the fresh air blowing in from over Wales, Taffy and the Lifeboat. The book shop Banks Road is trying hard, and should be supported.
- Marcus Hasted only drives for love, no longer for money
- The beach, Safeway v. near by, the prom, the windsurfers, has train & bus station nearby, the concourse gym is good.
- ROYAL LIVERPOOL GOLF CLUB !!
- Sitting between the leggs of the soldier watching over the Wirral enjoying the view watching city life go by seeing the view a prisoner would die for, then after getting tired of the city life going around the other side and watching the life of a diffrent country of calm :O)
- The view from Grange and Caldy Hills to Hilbre when the tide is coming in.
The sound of redshanks calling in the dark on the beach as you walk along eating chips out of the the Echo
Playing rugby at Caldy RFC with the backdrop of heather-covered Thurstaston Hill, surely the most attractive ground in the North West.
No hard frosts in the winter, if you want cold, just come to East Anglia like me!
- Large beach partys , decent food and facilities and goods . Alot of sit of points
- Sunsets and views. You can't beat them. From my bedroom window at home, I can watch the sky go crimson some nights as the sun sets, and see the whole town below in silhoutte. Nowhere else is as good! And, there's also the view across the Dee to Wales - you can even tell what the weather's going to be like by how misty it is. And, I guess the quiet. I go to University now in a fairly big city, and boy do I miss the sound of birds chirping in the morning, and a quiet night's sleep!
- All the fit men in wet rubber windsurfing on the Marine Lake. Yo!
- Proximity to 3 good theatres [L'pool Everyman, Chester Gateway, Theatre Clwyd] and a world class orchestra (RLPO) - sadly underfunded by miserly and philistine councils.
It's easy and cheap to get away thanks to EasyJet at Liverpool Airport (London can be as cheap as £20.00 including tax).
Marcus Hasted's taxi service.
- As an American visitor to your town, the best thing about the area became obvious from my first day in West Kirby...The people!! Thank you all for making me feel welcome in a strange land. I hope to come back and visit soon! msawicki@vt.edu
- THE HILL ,THE BEACH ,THE HASH
- The killer sunsets
the mellow people.
not much hassle from the police to moshers
the partys
the parks and free spaces where you can go
the youth club.
- The view from the beacon after coming back from the Ringas (had to be mentioned again I'm afraid)
- the young people
- Being able to see Wales from your bedroom window, friendly people, having an Island, Indian food from the Royal Bengal, 1/2 lb cheeseburger from Pizza Magic after a few pints, sitting outside the Moby Dick on a sunny day.
- Caldy Hill with the column on top. You get the best view of the Dee estruary from up there.
- West Kirby United Reformed Church - it's buzzing
- The marine lake at dawn, the sun shines on it just right and Sayers pasties, and my girlfriend say heaps of charity shops.
- West Kirby is famous for its sunsets - a famous painter said they were the best in the country.
- Walking along the beach as the sun sets, respectfully hiding your beercans and toning down bad language when a family passes by.
- the essence, I was raised there and lived all over the world but never loved any place as much as West Kirby.
- The best thing about good old WK is the beach that stretches for miles.
- The Wirral Way is wonderful and to be enjoyed by all.
