• The United Reformed Church in West Kirby is probably unlike any other church you've visited before, the evening service at 6:30pm Sundays is strongly reccommended with the majority of the congregation under 30. The youth fellowship based there is also very good, meeting after the evening service.

• just a quick message to say that west kirby is not on merseyside as it is on the River Dee estury and it is acyually geographically on the Wirral. many people from west kirby, hoylake & the surrounding areas get REALLY annoyed when told they are from merseyside or scouse. i know, i did it.... ;)
• Go to West Kirby in a westerly gale to see the Sail Boarders.
• Check the tide tables in advance if planning to walk over to Hilbre Island, and stay there while the tide flows in and then ebbs out. It's a bird sanctuary, and it's almost certain the seals will pop up out of the Irish Sea. Take sunscreen on a sunny day, as the cool air disguises the power of the sun. Parking is real pig during the summer. Public Toilets are poor.
• It is thought that the Beatles in their final team formation i.e. Ringo as their last drummer , played their first gig at the W.K.Conservative Association Hall at the corner of Banks Road and Salisbury Avenue. A rumour needing to checked out so that WK can be put on the mussic map on the Sixties.
• I so wish there was an Ice-Rink there! The nearest one is in Deeside, in North Wales - a journey of 40 mins by car, and that for me is a nightmare. Good thing about most cities is that they have one. Maybe West Kirby could do with knocking a few residential homes down and building a Rink on top of them?...
• There are some good bookshops in West Kirby and Heswall (Linghams - 2 branches) as well as a good antiquarian/second-hand one in Hoylake. Hoylake also has an absolutely first rate stationer/office supplies/photcopying shop called Heaton's (opposite Hoylake Station, one stop from West Kirby) run by the ever-obliging Carol.
• save the Lees school before its too late. Dave lewellin - you're amazing. Watch out for Trilby- they'll get to the top in the end!

• The Marine Lake, where the world windsurfing speed record has been set. The World Dinghy Team Racing Championships are also held here in August which may interest Yachties.
• There are also seals at Hilbre Island.
• For those people who like bird watching the Dee Estuary is renowned nationwide for its bird sanctuary with many rare species of birds.
