- The Civic Hall has had a bit of a renaissance recently, with Lloyd Cole, the Wildhearts and Spiritualized all playing in the last few months. Could it become the random back-of-beyond pre-tour warm-up gig venue of choice? Fingers crossed that it continues, because it's a long trip to Newcastle...

- One other event to look out for is Liqiud Nation on new years eve @ Whitehaven Civic Hall for a quality night out. I went to the last one and I'll be at the next, I would say more about it but there is just too much to tell. Trust me.

- THE PARK NIGHT CLUB
- In all fairness Whitehaven has the Rosehill Theatre, which has attracted a fair few big stars( from about 30 years ago. We've had a few tribute bands such as Magic(Queen) Lindisfarne(big band from the 70s, not a tribute. I saw a tremendous performance by a tribute Beach Boy band.
- Castle Park has rock concerts. Check local press for details
- Shadows has live bands on occasionally
- Rosehill Theatre, for the Blues and Jazz and The Civic Hall for the three tenors and Ballets
- "The Three Tons" has live heavy metal bands. Only recommended if you're very hard, very stupid, or a masochist.
