- the central is always full of regulars, not a place to go if you like dance music. as the park is no longer open the fresh faced youthfull crowds tend to gather in market pubs, north and browns bar
- North is an awesome pub!
- ,sennys,wetherspoons, cat
- Try 'The Old Captain's House' now under new management!!!!
It's not the down and outs boozer that it has been for the past couple of years or so. New decor, new menu, real ales with changing guest ales so always something new to try on the bar, good selection of not over priced wines and on the warm sunny days and evening the garden has been tidied and is now a great spot to watch the world go by.Come in and say hello we think you will be please with the differenceand if your new to the area try us.
THE OLD CAPTAIN'S HOUSE 'your local wherever you are from'
- the puncheon inn seems to attract all the local low lifes
- lots of pubs on offer, an allday sesh can be pretty good
- The Three tuns. For all ur music needs, alcohol needs and food needs. Once u go in to this pub u will be faced with scary looking rockers, but they r actually nice ppl. U can have civilised conversation n stupid ones to, We also have a mousse man. There is a perment fixture in the tuns Called Bob.
- sennys is top dog full of pussy just the best
- The Tuns, Its not dark, it's not scary, though some of the drinkers are kind of hairy, come in and have a listen to some decent music for a change, (well if the juke box is actually working) Be nice to Alison and Shawn behind the bar, and buy the chick with long red curly hair a drink (and her friend Julie)
- best crack are the market pubs top end pubs are full of pissed white shirts and wkd swilling young lasses with nee claes on chawin chuddy
- Have you tried NORTH, top class nosh and a banging night out its open till 1 fri and sat and its free to get in. The DJ's the best in town !!!!!!
- The Three Tuns, AWESOME PUB!! Especially for all the rockers and rollers in town, friendly service from your Aunty Alyson and Uncle Sean aswell as Misses Unyan (Kylie) and Misses Stash (Sarah). Not just a pub for rockers though dont be fooled, all welcome except those looking for something other than a nice refreshing pint of cooking lager!!! Local comedian on hand at all times thank you Con and great bands practicing upstairs and playing live downstairs, Sweet Zombie Jesus, Blind Mountain, Shattered Pieces, My Silo and Zoo Nation to give names, Go Here for the best laugh in Whitehaven!
- THE PUBS AT THE TOP END OF TOWN ARE GREAT (LOWTHER,KING,DUKE AND TANGIER STREETS) THE MARKET PUBS ARE OK BUT CAN GET A BIT ROUGH
- The Candlestick formally known as The Welsh Arms is not as good as it used to be!!!!!
- Update, Sal Madge is now 'Up North, the Welsh Ams is now "The Candlestick" Blue Bar is for Gays NOT The Paul Jones, The Three Tuns is finished, Jack Carr is dead so now there is nowhere to smoke dope and have a pint.
- The good pubs are the candelstick and the wetherspoons this serves drinks and food. the candlestick sevres all alcohol beverages and the staff are realy nice.
- It's got to be Senny's! Good music, decent prices and open til 1am-we like very much!
North is quite good (Used to be Sal Madges!)
- tuns , vine , narra backs or barra jacks , dusty miller , standard , queens , lion , dog n partridge ( sandwith ), dolphin , paul jones , and many more
- the Pack Horse and Tuns to see sexy S, you know who you are.
- Capt'n Senny's is a load of shit. "Barrymore's" as it is now known cos of the girls on the door make it a great place for botters & shirt-lifters to hang-out. Hello Sailor's !! Tossers.
- FRESH FACED BARS - Cellar Bar, The Park, Whittington Cat, Market pubs, sennys, gallagers
- The Tuns! Yippeee! But we've joined the big world and got a Wetherspoons now! But's it's poo.
- The Three Tuns (to spell it correctly) does have some bands on from time to time, but considering it has blues bands, rock bands, metal bands, and occasionally just has hard house and trance blasting out from the speakers inside, so you can't really label it so much these days! a mostly friendly crowd, but watch out for people who are two-faced (same as anywhere else really) plus the pool table is 20p a go. and coke is 65p. now thats value. :D
- The Strand is the best. Weatherspoons has just opened and will be good to start drinking in. But the Strand is the best.
- The Strand is the king of all pubs. The Paul Jones is the new YMCA.
- how many years has this page ran must be a hell of alot or the berk who says the whitehouse is biggest n best with great bar staff is blind its a filthy discusting dump staff are misarable snobs now the paul jones ISagreat pub and quiz nights are a laugh but the fat bald old bloke who does it mumbles so hard to hear questions
- Waverly Hotel has a good beefsteak pie. At least my Chicago taste liked it. Interesting people in the pub as well, met Geoff Parkinson, he tried to sell me a car. Steering wheel was on the wrong side for America, though.
- Whitehouse. Love it.
- THE SHIPWRIGHTS ARMS, IF UR A VISITOR TO WHITEHAVEN, AND THIS HAPPENS TO BE THE FIRST HOSTELRY YOU FALL INTO, PLEASE DON'T BE PUT OFF, ALL US LANDLADY'S ARENT POSSESSED BY THE DEVIL.
- Shiprights is ok but quiet and watch out for mel!, heapos is a mecha for underage drinking and has a baby as a DJ who for some reason thinks he is good, sennys has also been turned in to a underage paradise, royal oak is a top pub with loads of charecter, paul jones is ok but watch your cha to livenge at night (shorted by 10 quid twice), strand is pants, whitehouse should be knocked down, the cat is one of the best pubs in town, keep out of the market if you want not to be eaten alive (its a local place for local people) sal madges is good ,
- The RIchmond, ten ales on tap and less than 10 mins from my home.
Blue, which is run by a friend of mine, doesn't have a TV showing football because the landlord hates the game, cheers.
- Pubs in Whitehaven are actually quite nice. Do not, I repeat, do not venture into the three tuns as you will either die a painful death or be mentally scared for life.
- The Strand .. The Cat .. The Ship or Shipwrights for pool and jukeboxes... market pubs you can get away with doing owt ... blue is the nu freshly manicured 21stcentury faggot watering hole of re-generated whitehaven and vbery nice it is too though it needs a PROPER sound system
- the royal standard on a sunday morning can be very messy and very cosy at the same time ... nice
- "The Ship" on Duke Street aka The "Star Wars Bar". Sit and drink with Ashley, Rothery, Black Albert, Sez Les, Joe Dock, Boss, etc - they all speak a language of there own from 12pm until 11pm every day of the week.
- THIS PUB ON WOODHOUSE MOST WELCOMING PUB IN THE NORTH, AND THIS PUB WON BEST PUB IN THE NORTH BY SCOTTISH & NEWCASTLE BREWERYS,ENTERTAINMENT FRIDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT ,LOCALS MAKE VISTERS MOST WELCOME,GREAT BUNCH AND EDNA & JOHN SIMPLY THE BEST AND ALL THE BAR STAFF TRY AND CHECK IT OUT.
- one too many old drunk fellas for our liking!
- AIN'T ANY WORTH WHILE
- Without a doubt, definately the best pub with the best pint is the Anchor Vaults in the market place.
- Sal Madges has Stella on tap....say no more.
- The best pub in town is the Welsh arms.Great drink and everyone is made welcome.Try the Grolsch on tap.
- Avoid the Paul Jones as it now becoming the local gay bar..backs to the wall...by the way my names Tristan and i'll be in about 8:30...a pub aptly named after a seaman...now flowing with semen!!
- THE TOWN IS FULL OF THEM
- The Whitehouse is the best pub(and biggest)in Whitehaven. Some of the bar staff are absolute nutters. If you do go in make sure you buy the barstaff lots of drinks.
The John Paul Jones is another good pub. The quiz on a Tuesday night is worth going to.
- You MUST visit the BREWERS ARMS up on Kells the beer is the best in town and isnt badly priced. The Landlord and Landlady (Shaun & Annette) are REALLY REALLY friendly. Free food now and again and loads of free entertainment. Really made our visit to Whitehaven memorable - be back again soon!!
- Much more sense than any of the ripoff clubs although last thing friday and saturday in The Paul Jones is usually cramped - the recent refurbishment seems a bit of an own goal- the one saving grace is teh bar staf are mostly Top Tottie
- go down the marketplace for a drink, the vine, normas, and the barra jacks, even if its not yer cup of tea at least when you see the sadddo,s you will realise that your lot in life isnt so bad !!!
- The park is really good if you don't take yourself too seriously (because Steps feature heavily!)
- Sunny Hill, I learned to play pool in there.
- abundant- best is Sal madges run by ex-GB loose forward Gordon Cottier. Other pubs are shipwrights, central, ship, sennys. Places to avoid are the notorious "market pubs"- their idea of a welcome is a smack in the chops!
- Captain Senny's is great (although they need to turn the music down as it's distortion city),
Silouhette's is cheezy, the toilets in there are a joke and the music is deafening. DJ's a little young too!
The Whitehouse is probably the biggest "fun" pub with a recently refurbished second floor balcony.
- My mate phil would kill me if I didn't mention his pub "THE EWE AND LAMB" at Padstow just out side of Whitehaven heading for Cleator moor then turn off to wards Moor row at the bottom of Keekle, tell him Ian Leech sent you( it won't get you any where but try it any way) good freindly atmosphere, quite on most nights. Good food and Good ale!!
- the best pub by far now is The Strand, you've got to try it.
- The John Paul Jones is the only pub with a late licence though you may get a lock-in in some of the others..
- millions and they're all fantastic - everybody in Whitehavens itinerary: 8:30 Sal Madges 9:00 Sennys 9:30 Paul Jones 10:00 Whitehouse 11:00 Park 2:00 Chatanooga pizza shop 2:30 Police station/hospital
- The best pub is Cellabar. They used to put on Dr. jones at 10.30 every Saturday. Try their £1 a bottle fridge. They once refused to serve me anymore...
- John Paul Jones for a taste of nostalgia Sal Madges to chill out Silloutes for a bit of a dance The Whitehouse for fun
- Avoid Silhouettes (Silly Gets) its the biggest dump in town.
- Paul Jones near the harbour ,just been done out good food to. see Stuart the bar man he's a lovely fella
- Best Pub, Shipwrights Arms, Because it's next to the bus station.
- The best pub in whitehaven is The Central.
- Non Cumbrians venturing near the market place area of town are usually killed and eaten by the schemies who drink there. Stick to the Strand, Central, Paul Jones.
- The Waverley - go there for the crack, the characters - Geoff Parkinson, and the cumberland sausage. The Paul Jones - nice deccor but most importantly - late opening The Royal Oak - the best music selection The Irish Bar - Good beer - better than most "Irish" pubs The Pack Horse - A Must! unique
