Whiteley village? whats going on, Whiteley is just a lane, a bridge over motorway and a lot of trees. Oh I get it no trees anymore just over priced rubbish houses with two cars and people who still like Robbie Williams. As if the motorway wasn't enough, now its inhabited by fat blokes in bad shirts I bet. Glad I don't live anywhere near now. I am looking for information of a John Thomas Crabbe from freshwater, Isle of Wight. He was in the Royal Navy on board the The Shackleton, around 1959-62? based around the river clyde in Scotland where he was friendly with a Bob Mitchell and Geoff Cleary.He would now be aged around 65ish? His mothers first name is Joyce. I think he may also have brothers and a sister. I believe he now resides in t he Northants area. Having found this site,I am despondent on what I found on this site! Most notable point of interest the Zurich Building! A community centre not yet opened. The shop in a Portakabin! One Road in and out! No local bus service to speak of! Places to Eat Tesco's cafe!! Nowhere to go, nothing to do! Shouldn't we be demanding something be done for us and our children? Isolated as we are, maybe we sh ould be dancing round the Totem Pole in a scene akin to The Wicker Man! I think the area could do with some decent local amenities which would encourage community spirit and involvement. Perhaps if I return to this site in 5 Years time we may well have had a shop built! ... more >> Re: What is going on? by cat (Member 10126208) on 24-Sep-2004 hi i have lived in whiteley for nine years and agree with what you are saying. though the residents may complain about the proposed building of a skatepark near W.village, i think it would help to keep our teens off the streets, safe as they are, but surely they are doing more damage widespread without a park? leave the smaller kids to sweethills and the top park and give the older kids a skatepar k. they cant shop in w.Village forever, i know i certainly wouldnt! ... more >> Reply

I am searching for my stepbrother who would be 56-57 yrs old now. During WWll, my father, Robert "Gordon" Cole, was stationed at Aldershot during 1943-44. He was a gunnar instructor in this Canadian Armored Corps. While there he would go into London on leaves and there he met a love. Her name possibly Emma, we are not quite sure on this. We can only hope that son was told of his father and gi ven him his name to know. My father had to return home to Canada when he was injured in the bombings.
