Inside Information and Stuff Only Locals Know

Hookup Spots
- Cafe Parisienne - great for a catch up after dropping the children at school.
- Outside iceland ???? again, why ???
Seems frozen food outlets always the wicked place to chill and intimidate old locals with those square shoping trolloys in faded red check.
- Pubs in whitton i guess?
- In the 60s and 70s, one of the top names on the UK folk circuit was a guy called Noel Murphy. Not many people outside the folk scene remember him now but he lived off the Meadway for several years. I used to drink in the Winning Post with him until he took pity on my liver and moved.
He was a great man for giving young musicians a start. Elton John's lead guitarist, Davey Johnstone, started off playing mandolin for Murphy and Murphy was a huge name on the club and festival circuit for years. He was also a pro standard golfer and was big mates with most of the showbiz golf types who popped in to the Winning Post from time to time. I hear he lives in the west country nowadays.
The Winning Post, by the way, was one of the main pub-rock venues of the early 70s. Thin Lizzy (the 'h' is silent) were the house band for years.
