Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars in Wickford, Essex*
Where to go to get down
You can tell us more about Wickford.
Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
- plazma that it duke, swan if u wanna get fucked up, downham arms 4 sum gear
- Wednesday nights at The Swan is pretty much part of the towns heritage now. Loads of metal, Indie, Guitar band type stuff. They get a really mixed crowd too, from us younger ones liking Fallout Boy/Klaxons etc, to the 50-somethings into their Zeppelin and Ozzy.
- Swans on a Wednesday night - only DECENT music gets played, anything from Franz Ferdinand/Kasabian/Ordinary Boys stuff through to Slipknot/Maiden/Hendrix. Well worth a visit, but probably not if you love your r'n'b
- Spent two weeks in Wickford on work (ending this week), lucky enough to have my girlfriend with me, but finding the right boozer – jeez ! Pub #1, in 30 mins we saw 2 apparent deals going down (car park, then the gents), also full of Chavs, Chavettes, even Chavlettes ! Pub #2, full of Chantelle (sp?) spotters or wannabe’s, this all inside a nasty corporate type refurb.
Swans maybe a bit tatty round the edges (just needs a lick of paint etc), but the staff are friendly and attentive, beer not half bad (well kept & served), better yet the locals are ace. Where else can you find a pub, rammed with customers around the bar area, but they make way for you when you need a refill, also don’t make you think of ‘Whicker Man’ when you step through the door ?
13 days and counting, still not seen a deal, a hint of Burberry, nor a ruck in Swans.
Wednsday nights *really* are a seriously good scene, excelllent sounds and a great mix of people - Gotta be the best kept secret since the pic of me shaking hands with Hutchins last week !
- Used to be the Swan, but like i said it died
- Party people in Wickford really know how to raise the roof dont ya? 07/10/05 Bar Plazma (and its mini-disco bit) has been tragically annhialated by fire - bringing a literal meaning to Disco Inferno and leaving us with only The Duke (The Puke) to go to for a weekend drink in Wickford town. I mean lets face it, who wants have to avoid eye contact all night in the Swan (Satan's Duck) with coked-up criminals? Or witness the home-grown delinquent subculture of ex-Bromfords burberry boys in Frasiers with a fag behind the ear "lording it up" like they would really know how to fight their way out of a wet paper bag?
Lets hope that Plazma really does "rise from the ashes" like Phoenix Nights and we can all get back to falling over on its postage-stamp sized dancefloor, crawling up and down the stairs to the loo and hassling the DJ to play "In da Pub" by 50pence, yeah?
- The swan
the downham
hahaha
- wednesday the swan
- Is fraisers a club?? hmm, no
- Bar Plazma has a regular thurs evening live singer/band slot, the standard is very good for a local bar and well worth a visit!
- Swan's do punk/metal stuff on wednesdays...fantastic as it scares those trendy little twats away. Not a puffer jacket/baseball cap wrong way/lowered XR3 in sight!!!
- Fraisers and plazma hav music but i wouldn't call them a club. Go 2 bas vegas (festival leisure park) if u want 2 shake ur groove thing
- Fraisers is always the best place to go for a good night out if you cant afford to go out to go to ikon & then always stop off at abi's on the way back from fraisers or if you go plazma which is near fraisers
- "Solace" is the phoenix rising from the ashes of "Bubbles" (also known in its day as the Narcotics Lounge)! Argh!
- HA! Bringing the WEST END to WICKFORD! The old eletricity board-turned-junkshop is now a trendy upmarket bar - "PLAZMA!" and NO WICKFORD MASSIVE idiocy here, they have an age limit, although round here it should be stipulated that no-one with a mental age of under 13 should be allowed into any drinking establishment... Anyone in Wickford knows who I mean! Keep it real!
- The nearest thing to a club in wickford was bubbles but a few idiots decided to take the p*** and it ended up being closed down
- Bubbles, the root of all evil in wickford, now appears to be DEFUNCT. Why's dat den? It just IS.
- Only go drinking in Wickford if you have lost the will to live. The Pink Toothbrush in Rayleigh (the next stop on the train, get the 250 bus or a 15 min drive) on Friday and Saturday night play skatey music, metal and gothy stuff. The clientle are very fresh faced
- The clubs we go to r at the Festival Leisure park
- ikon is a club in the next town
- Does Bubbles count?
- Ha ha! This is Wickford we're talking about!
