• THE SWAN PUB HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN! ONCE, THE EPICENTRE OF WICKFORD LIFE... ALRIGHT MAYBE NOT THE EPICENTRE, BUT ANYWAY, A WICKFORD LANDMARK (some would say "skidmark") HAS BEEN LAID TO WASTE WITH THE WINDOWS BORDED UP WITH METAL GRIDS. LETS JUST HOPE IT DOES NOT END UP BEING DEMOLISHED!!!!

• Swans have had a lick of paint and have moved that stupid screen away from the toilets and speakers at last. Wednesday nights still rock like a trooper of course...a great scene there, and yes, it seems to still be a well kept secret
• Wednesday nights at the Swan is a bit of a local tradition. Where else would you hear an obscure 80's metal track mixed in with the Scissor Sisters? Check out DJ Jon and his obsession with spinning every CD on his fingers!
• Gotta be 'Swans' (see other entry), not a chav in sight, just a really good, down to earth boozer, also serves a cheap basic range menu.
• I used to drink here but since a new member of staff arrived it has become a crock of shit.I heard that it was changing hands, about time.The smell of bullshit and drugs is really lowering the tone.

• The Swan on Wednesdays has a good atmosphere and the DJs play decent music as well (no dancey repetitive rubbish). Because of this...Chavs tend to be scared away after about 8pm which can only be a good thing

• Club BAR in Market Road .By far the best thing to happen to Wickford for years..All the Nobs cant get in because it has a selective membership.Only proper drinkers and possibly the worst ever karaoke singers are aloud.If your names not on the list....You dont get in EVER.

• The Swan - really top grub to eat during the day and top tunes at night...Wednesday nights are the best of the week. Loads of cool stuff from The Darkness, Prodigy, Beatles, Franz Ferdinand, Metallica and all that! Satan's Long-Necked winged wonder just keeps on biting!!!
• There are no pubs or bars worthy of mentioning in Wickford. Fortunately it has a train station.
• Swans on high street do cheap beer on Wednesday nights. The music's pretty cool as well, no drumbasshouse shit...just the proper stuff. It's been going for about 10 years or so now for a good reason

• The Duke, for a mature and relaxed (shite) atmosphere (mostly Dads), The Swan, for under age girlies, do as you likey's (Pikeys) and oddballs on Wednesday nights. Bubbles Bar if you wanted to score, but this place is now closed due to naughty behaviour. Or The Quart Pot if you're a sad twat and your clothes smell of mud !!!

• Yes! The Swan on a wednesday night is "GRUNGE NIGHT" Woo-hoo! Whatever happened to the spliffs going around out the back? A bit of rain? What! No? A wednesday? Who am I? Where am I?
• they all suck. Maybe the dick turpin, but gypsies seem to feel the need to ride around the pub on bikes or set there 10 year old sons onto you for a fight.

• The Castle has been demolished - now an Aldi supermarket
