Pubs in Wimborne, Dorset*

The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call

You can tell us more about Wimborne.

Pubs
  • The Olive Branch (previously the Dormers) has had a refit and gone "up market". The prices reflect this but the food quality is quite good and the staff friendly and helpful. The beer garden is really nice on a warm day - the fixtures and fittings reflect the new aspirational atmosphere.
  • The World's End - just west of Winborne on the A31. Definately not a place to visit twice. Aimed at the passing grockles - staff could not give a monkeys about repeat trade and treat the customers in that fashion! Food is average and not cheap. Beer is prety poor quality and not well presented. Leave it to the poor unfortunates wizzing west!
  • The White Hart - finest pub in the town. No toffs, no baseball hats, just hapless chumps enjoying the best beer garden in Wimborne without arse shaking cheese-disco tunes or blokes named 'Terry' or 'Barry' looking for fisticuffs. Probably a good place to go if you want a conversation about motorbikes or pagan festivals, but don't quote me on that. Rubbish food, but all the more charming for that as they're obviously working so hard in the cellar to make the beer great.Recent infection of annoying 'how loud can I make my voice' studenty types soon to be mopped up with army flame throwers.Better than the Cricks. So there.
  • Definitely the Pudding and Pye for the crazy barman! He dances to the music, pulls the fridge over and is bound to provide a great night's entertainment. The Cricketer's has a good vibe, especially in summer.
  • Noticed that the White Heart had been missed out of the list maybe (understandably) intentionally, but for completeness it should be added. Also the Dormers is another central pub. nearly always empty, apart from, obviously, the folk festival
  • Rising Sun. Really good lunchtime food. Great wit and repartee from landlord Ron. Beware occasional rowdy local 'businessmen'sat at bar
  • THE WINSTON CHURCHILL IS NO MORE!!! As of January 2001, it's a shame actually that Pub has seen more sights than I don't know what. You could write a book about the 'Comings and goings' of that Pub over the years. It will be missed!
  • Out of All of the above the Pudding & Pye is No 1!
  • 1)Winston Churchhill...Ok pub...bit old-man orientated. 2)Coach and Horses…Young pub...but it has to be visited 3)Cricketers..Nice pub, good choise of beer, expensive pool table, always packed 4)Rising Sun...Another nice pub, music, sometimes packed - sometimes empty 5)The Bell......small friendly pub, with a pool table 6)Albion...the old-underage pub, toilets outside.. 7)Oddfellows...Tiny, Tiny old mans pub. 8)Green Man...If you dont smoke a pipe, entrance may well be refused 9)The Pudding and Pye...Well this is the pub. Currently gaining a slightly teenage edge, it is a big pub (watch the low beams), with pool table and beer "garden". 10)The Kings Head...Not really a pub, but tends to be the final visit on any pub crawls. They do appreciate a large number of drunken students pouring into their nice quiet bar. Expensive, but well worth it! OTHER PUBS: There are a few other pubs dotted around the place, which are good for a beer garden and quiet. These include Crown and Anchor, Stocks and the Barley Mo.
