If you're around, be sure to check these things out

You can tell us more about Winchester.

The Best Things
  • the people and the atmosphere at christmas, the emos and the students and the buskers
  • Not too many chavs, well presented, very safe,
  • the buttercross for a power ollie mish
  • friendly people,,,gd pubs,,,gd live music,,,,nd it doesnt smell.
  • The atmosphere, there's a wide mix of people but its still a generally friendly place (at least in the daytime) and its old and historical and surrounded by the countryside.
  • the arbour-it is amazing
  • The People, the MTB/BMX scene
  • distance between town and winnal
  • Mid Hampshire Observer. Top local paper, often has good music and has a great surreal cartoon strip on page two called something like 'Duck Tin Lupin'. The Watermeadows are great for swimming in summer. Ditto the Locks, near Twyford.
  • cat grounds in the summer. the hat fair. joining onto the end of queues of exchange students and trying to look french.
  • Caned Clothiing. It is soo cool. I've heard that they will sell you herbal handbags, lubricating lipstick, dereck the dildo, steven the stick insect, all sorts! Just ask. They might even have a sleeping bag for you to buy and crawl into and m***erbate. If they haven't ask if they can order one in!!!!
  • CANED CLOTHING.
  • Winchester's actually a very nice town. (Or 'city', as it should technically be known.) The streets are generally clean. There's some nice pubs. Walking up and down the hills will keep you fit. The people are generally more upmarket and so less likely to act like arseholes. Most of the tourist attractions are very good. There's some . And the town looks good both close up and in the horizon (thanks to some nice old architecture and modern buildings that blend in well with it). There's a lot of beautiful countryside too. Overall, much better than elsewhere...
  • Its pretty all year round. (apart from the overflowing bins in the cat grounds)
  • People can dress however the hell they want and nobody cares!!!!!!It's so dope you wouldn't believe!
  • STREET SKATIN!!!!!!!!!!
  • general good vibe...lots of young people.... good pubs...good restaurants...
  • Lots of young female art and drama students with fit supple bodies - phwoar (rubbing knees salivating).
  • Winchester like totally rocks all those people who dis it are ****e** and they can ******n* well go away!!!!!!!!!!!
  • It's pretty in the summer. When your bored, it's guarranteed that everyone else isn't doing anything mildly better than you, as they are bored too. No one is really...seen as outcasted in Winchester. Everyone just gets on with life. It's quaint. If your starting out at Uni or college and have come from a city, going to Winchester is refreshing in the way that it's surrounded by countryside, it is still a little bit urban and is near everything! Like London, and Southampton, Portsmouth and Bornemouth. Nothing is THAT far away. It's a one way system which is nice as it keeps things simple, you only have to look one way when crossing the road, and if in the mood, you can get your barings by driving around the city to get to your destination. Although the second most expensive place in the country, the majority of that expense does show. The shops are great, even the pound shops. You get what you pay for most of the time, it's just a question of shopping in the right place. When something BIG happens, it's seen as terribly exciting. The strange repetative quality that it has. After you've visted everyplace for the 50 millionth time, you grow used to it and love Winchester for it's...repetativeness. You know that nothings going to go without warning, or leave you in the lurch. Some people are actually pretty friendly and polite. If you smash someone in the face with your shopping bag, you will apologise and it is vocally accepted and laughed about! Don't go deliberatly whacking though, as that isn't accepted quite as readily. If you have an eye for a pretty face...or indeed a nice arse, pair of tits, blondes etc etc, then Winchester is the place to be. Plus, lads - Winchester has a higher ratio of females to males in the student department. It's a massive pick and mix of...of...well...WOMEN! HOWEVER, be careful. Men are in short supply and jealousy is a common emotion in Winch. And your attitude to dating 15 women at once may change, as, when they find out, it can get pretty nasty, and pessimistic attitudes towards the males of Winchester are beginning to slowly increase. You have been warned! It doesn't matter how old or how ugly you are,you WILL pull one day, one night down town in Winchester. You may not remember their name the next day, but you WILL pull. And that, is a terribly refreshing fact to know.
  • College Girls
  • the cat grounds in summer is really really wicked.
  • go n feed da ducks, they're nice!!!! N the ex Firkin barman, now Gaolhouse. No names given, but he's a superstar!!!
  • The fact that you will always see someone you know, only an hour to London, 2 to Brighton and an 1h15 to Bournemouth by train.
  • nice chilled atmosphere, plenty of places to chill and hook up with mates
  • Hello, Winchester College. The best thing about winchester is the large number of goodlooking boys all in a convienient location during term time. The holidays suck however. The fact that everyone knows everyone else. You can't get up to mischief without it having repercussions, and you always seem to get up to mischief with the people you least expected to.
  • It really is a NICE place, and this IS a good thing!
  • Winchester is addictive... many many people come to the city, often to attend King Alfred's college... after a year or two it grows on you - and many people find they can't leave it!
  • The M3 is really close.
  • Quiet, Safe city, don't need a car to do anything, countryside very close. Lots of fit men near the Leisure centre.
  • Not many of the sort of tossers who read guides like this.
  • Lots of rich, stupid, blonde college girls.
