Cafes and Coffee Shops in Winchester, Hampshire*

High tea and a sticky bun

You can tell us more about Winchester.

Cafes and Coffee Shops
  • Very friendly coffee shop open opp. the Library (sorry, Discovery Centre!), free Wi-Fi and decent coffee.
  • Cafe centro, you can smoke downstairs but evry1 must buy summit 2 go ther
  • Cafe Nero is a good place to hangout, but if you want good old fashioned tearooms try upstairs in C&H fabrics, reeve the bakers and forte tearooms
  • presto's is good, opposite nero's, where you get the same coffe but one is about 10 quid more expensive
  • Cafe Monde near the square is very laid back and does better than Costa at half the price!
  • Bus Station Cafe. Who said Winchester didn't have a greasy spoon? this place rules!
  • There are too many coffee shops!!! can't one of them stay open all night though? that would be cool.
  • there are a fair few of these. cafe centro is decorated pretty cool downstairs, but like most things in winchester... is well expensive! oh and there is now a new 'parisian' cafe at the top of the high street.
  • Costa- Pain in the arss for smokers to have to go ouside and sit in the middle of the bloody crappy brooks. Presto- banned smoking when 13/14yr olds sat in their for warmth with a tea between 10 while they all chainsmoked. Cafe nero- nice food and drink, but stupidly expensive and far too noisy. smokers welcome. Cafe centro-cosy downstairs room, comfy sofas, nice cookies, quiet, smokers welcome-the best by far.
  • Costa for those who want to spend 4 pounds on a frothy coffee in a polyester cup that says 'Costa' on it (although the hot chocolate has marshmellows, whipped cream and cocoa powder bung on just for fun!), or BHS who have nice sandwiches and a groovy pick and mix. Just be wary in the summer, as the ice cream sweets melt in the sun into a gooey mess of...horrible sweetage. Siiiickly.
  • the cafe formerly known as the Matelot (now Cafe Centro i think) which is that glass thing on the corner of Parchment street is a)cheaper than Costa b)nicer than Costa and c)the basement has really comfy seats. the food there isnt bad, but a tad pricy. they also serve snapple!!
  • costa coffee in the brook's center is a pretty cool place, maybe a bit overpriced
  • Minstrels has to be the best, it has been there forever, the staff are really friendly. They do a great cooked breakfast and delicious cakes and biscuits.
  • Cafe society, taking winchester by storm, amongst the later tenns trying to act soffisticated!. there are a number of decent cafes/coffee shops, Costa coffee in the brooks is very pleasent and some cafe that used to be called le matalot opposite macdonalds, plenty others, you just have to look round to find something that suits your needs and budget.
  • Reves the Bakers has been a savior for those with saturday jobs and munchie hangovers, check out the pizza mmmmm
  • New cafe on Stockbridge Rd by Station Hill.Cheap grub & nice too.
  • Lot's of new wave coffee shops sprouting up around the town, how exciting....
  • Lots more now than there used to be, most popular ones - Costa coffee in the Brooks centre, one opposite Smiths and Minstrels in the Square.
  • Expresso opposite Smiths, really nice coffee shop in the Brooks centre - lovely but sickly Hot Chocolate with marshmallows, coffee shop opposit Somerfilds - looks posh.
