• When you move to Winchester and spend a long time here, you gradually start to change when speaking. You become more well spoken, and usage of the word 'like', and outbursts of "Fuckin' Ay!, Fuckin' Yes! and Wake Up WINCHESTER!", will be used more often. It's a bit like Royston Vasey from the League of Gentlemen. It's a town for local people. And you'll never leave. *evil laughter*
• Watch out for the estates in Winch. Highcliffe, Winnal, Stanmore and....Weeke. DO NOT hang around Cat grounds after dark. Unless you WANT to get beaten. Anywhere else is fine, Cat grounds aint. There is a good garage to hide from townies if you flee up the top corner, turn up the alleyway and sharp right then left. There is an open garage with bins in, hide behind them.
• come and add to the BMX scene, come down to the Barend trails and the end of barend rd.. bottom of winchester, pretty large trails now.
• Top Tip: Oniells at the top of town has a back door. get a friend to leave it open and you can get in past last entry. It's round the back of wilds and over the fence.
• Only come here on a warm sunny day. Don't expect culinary or cultural sophistication.
• If you any girls wearing bootleg jeans, sensible loafers and sensible cardigans they are probably from St Swithuns School. You have two options a)run or b)hurl abuse/rotting fruit and veg/your shoe/a nailbomb at them.
• Every year Homelands is held about 15 mins from Winch. It's a massive club festival (if you didn't already know!) and it kicks ass!!
• Southampton is only down the road if you want a big night out or some more shops.
• As an ex Wintonian, it bugs me that the rest of the country sees it as a rich place - it does have loads of rich ******* but it also has loads of perfectly ordinary people too.
• Stay away and leave it to old farts like me.
• • Best thing about Winchester? Uh, its a kind of 'safe' city. Thats about it. Sorry.
  • Worst? No sk8 /ramps/scene. No decent record shops. No techno :'-(
  • Winchester is getting a new cinema after all these years since the old one was demolished.
  • I am now 270 miles away at University which should give you some idea of what I think about the place. It is best to start with the bad points:
    • Crap pubs
    • Crap nightclubs
    • Crap shopping facilities (see the half empty Brooks Centre)
    • Crap facilities (ie no bowling, no cinema(yet) and not much else)
    • Crap events, whenever there are any
    So on to the good points:
    • Er...
    • That's it.
    • Winchester is an extremely safe town which is quite sweet if you like it like that, but there's plenty of places if you need an upper. Don't diss Winchester. I'd rather live there than Bognor Regis.
    • We've got a cinema here now, though I haven't been there yet... Still, overall the place IS about as happening as an OAP home. Looks nice though!
    • it is very safe , as i used to say - if any one did attack you you'd probably know them! incestuos to the extreme, the world might have 6 degrees of separation but winchester has about 1
    • DO NOT COME TO WINCHESTER UNLESS YOU ARE OVER 50
