The Worst Things in Winchester, Hampshire*
The entirely missable and worth mentioning because of it
You can tell us more about Winchester.
The Worst Things
- Traffic + parking charges
- A lack of tolerance
- THE PHONE BOX OUTSIDE THE SOCIAL, ONCE CRISIS LOAN IS SECURED 'QUICK RING THE DEALER BEFORE I RATTLE' AS YOU GO PAST, SPOT THE ADDICT, NOTE THE FACE AS THEY COULD BE BREAKING IN TO A HOUSE/SHED NEAR YOU!
BEGGARS: NEIGHBOURS DAUGHTER & PARTNER ARE BOTH SERIAL WINCHESTER BEGGARS WITH HELP THE HOMELESS PLEAS. NEITHER ARE HOMELESS AND BOTH HAVE SH~T LOADS OF DISABILITY BENEFIT COMING IN
- the slightly rubbish shops and the absence of an h&m, tiny cinema even tho its nice it can b irritating, the buses are neva on time
- no real clubs, almost everything is overpriced
- amazing stair sets with no run up and fuk all landing
- chavs...lots of them...nd realy up themselves bouncers
- its a really boring place and has very little to entertain youth unless they have money.
- Can be packed with tourists and old people can sometimes seem to have something against students.
- teenages drinking cider in the cat ground and thinking they are the mutz nutz
- Too many chain stores and supermarkets. Not enough independent shops.
- snobs. the way the highstreet is just packed with ugly-looking chain stores which you can find on any other highstreet and don't fit in at all. having to constantly dodge rows of people wielding clipboards/mormons (well not weilding mormons), like some kind of gladiators game. oh and the solent blue line buses never turn up, especially when it's raining. dumb college kids like me. oh there s a whole load. lots of junkies, and drunk people.
- -Tramps. Kick them, punch them, bite them (if you're feeling feisty), smack them really hard. Then pay them for their trouble.
-Swear words
- CANED CLOTHING.
- ...But that's not to say it's perfect. Some of the students from King Alfred's are wankers, with no sense of toleration or decency towards other people. The fact that they treat the town as a glorified shooping mall and booze vendor is proof enough there. The Art Students seem to think you're an individual simply by getting face piercings and are horribly cliquey at times. The squaddies, while not as bad as their rep may suggest, can still be obnoxious too. There's a simmering undercurrent of violence here, as with all other small towns in the UK. All you need do is mix the dickheads with booze and away you go. Par of the course, though.
- not enough decent vintage colthes shops/music places.
- George Smith
- Everyones up there own arse in whinch not a very nice place to just go and meet people, shame!
- the tourists...they can fuck right off
- Organised begging
- Winchester dies at 1am on a Saturday.
Winchester dies at 12pm other nights.
Winchester doesn't even wake up on Sundays.
No buses run on sodding Sundays.
The young kids are...dare I say, spoilt little brats. In fact, they are shits.
The old people here can be posh, very very arrogant and rude.
There are young people everywhere.
Townies are very rough.
So are squaddies. Especially when extremely drunk, their hands begin to wander.
Your surrounded, yes, by good looking young people, but it's guarranteed that most are slags, players, fuckwits, or taken.
It's the town of the happy couples who are still in holding hands mode. If your not in a relationship in Winchester, you can really feel it. Especially at weekends.
If you don't live your life carefully, your past can come back to haunt you. (Say you pull a strange freak. You may see that freak in town any night afterwards)
IT'S A BLOODY ONE WAY SYSTEM. So if you miss a turning, then you have to go round again.
- Beggars
- Winchester has a wide range of fuck wits and arse holes.
- the rich wankers that live (and shop) here.
the number of newgens about.
- winch is full of arrogant snobs who will never appreciate a hard day's work n think they're better than us all. Thats one thing, but it's also got stanmore n highcliffe, n i don't kno whats worse. GET OUT OF THERE!!
- the fact that you will always see someone you know, drunk squaddies, people hanging out outside supermarkets getting drunk on cider and then throwing insults
- everything is so damn expensive
- Too many gobby young children, tramps that don't seem to make any effort to help themselves and University Students (Peter Symonds not included ex-pupil my self).
- Expensive as shit.. and thats expensive shit. Not much 'extra' stuff to do like bowling etc. many stuck up old people.
- The growing number of townies.
- YEK. whats happened... I went away, and came back to find that the whole city is crawling with mincing, affected 'oh-so-alternative' art-student arseholes, who seem to think that because they dread their hair and wear baggy pants, that means that they're some kind of 'elite sub-culture'... oh contraire you fools!
Come back nasty townies with your green Levis and platforms, all is forgiven.
- Those fucking squaddies.
- It really is, a NICE place?!
- House prices, tourists, moaning old people, lack of decent leisure facilities.
This was meant to be the capital of Wessex & unfortunately some people think we are still in Medaeval age.Hello, this is the 21st century!!!!!!!!!!
- Tourists.No decent night life.Limited leisure facilities,house prices,
traffic around the town, everything shuts down too early.
- Sorry - 'safe'? You're not remembering the locals v squaddies punch ups in the Broadway, the fact that although I've lived in London and Sheffield, I've had more things nicked in Winchester, plus my bike kicked in and been caught up in more fights than anywhere else (and I'm female)?
No night bus service, and you might not need a car if you live in the city, but what about the villages when you've no car, no cash and no public transport?
- Posh, irritating college boys and anyone associated to Winchester college.
- No nightlife, no good films on ever, lots of dodgy looking and dodgy smelling tramps in the High Street.
- Too many slappers and townies, too many underage drinkers in the firkin on Fridays. Too many card shops and not enough music shops.
- You've heard of it.
- price of beer having got used to northern prices. lack of anything to do after 11 pm
- It's generally arse, especially growing up there, which I did.
