I am currently buying a property in Wivenhoe and have been told by our environmental search of the existence of a landfill site near Bowes road/Rectory road.
Does anybody know anything about this and if so does it cause a problem to the locals? Any info would be appreciated.

As an Englishman living in Australia i still get a little homesick for the 'Old Dart'- football,pubs,the countryside....which brings me to Wivenhoe.I have been told that it is a lovely place & i would very much like to visit the village on my next trip to the U.K.

    With regard your research my Grandmother was an "Eva Dorothy Harlow" who gave birth to my father "Charles Harold Harlow" when she was 19 years of age. She gave my father up for adoption just after he was born. My father was then brought up by a woman by the name of Smith - hence my surname.     Not a regular but a group of us ( Mak, Mak, Lobbkin,Mak and occasional others used to go in there between about 1980-1987 as in other threads, we used to talk fishing and have scampi in a basket and tartare sauce. As I have said elsewhere Tom was the landlord and a surly bugger to be sure (Pat was ok!)
