- at this time a think a update is required as things have chanaged in workinton fusion have new guy jimmy sea class mixing thurs-sat with variations in music.old man mad mikey still on the scene in the curwen still entertaining but not as much of a pevert as he use to be hasn't brought the 2 bit whore house over from elliotts, there is a new kid on the block dj neli doing all the venues, elliotts, royal oak, level 2 only got scurples and fusion to conqure although is scruples worth his talents looking at the present resident who needs to learn to mix and stop trying to mc as he is nearly as bad as dj jazzzy jav, maxi still going strong in level 2 and marky mark still dj's in the smallest box and bar in town what more can i say.curwen bar staff and level 2 bar staff up for a laugh and have there own dances to certain tracks(ketchup song, sax brothers) to mention a few wish some of the other larger venues could follow suit or at least smile while they work.everyone has a late licence now so where to go only u can deceide.watch out for the big name of a big man who will rival any dj in town in mixing and partying this guy needs snapped up quick ITS D J NNNNNEEEEELLLLLIIII (neli)!!!!! see ya all soon?
- Whithaven has the right idea with the civic hall introducing indie bands to cater for the forgotten age group 14-21,anyone who fancies themselves as an entrepreneur could make a killing.
- monroes
- MONROES IS GETTING BETTER, MORE OF THE STEREOTONICS PLEASE!
- Monroes when it was Maralyns not Michaels (they ripped all its character out)
- MONROES WHEN THE STEREOTONICS ARE ON, THEY ARE THE DOGS BALEARICS
- monroes for goth bands
- carneigie theatre....pubs around town full of idiots
- Monroes is ok at times but has jazz on far too often! Also is very small and promotes illness if three two many beers have been taken aboard.
- Monroes and the back of my buddies car (ladies not gents welcome) And on my backs in summer where Dimensions the girl dance band came for my buddies birthday
- Monroes is full of meatheads and the barmaid has more piercings than soft mick!!
- monroes kicked ass a few years ago, n e 1 remember the dead dogs, mushroom, vanilla, crazy god of endless noise etc..... some strange but mental nights had by all.
- Anywhere where Ray Starkey decides to have a sing-song, usually 3.30pm on a busy saturday afternoon outside Next, see ya there!
- eh in workington u must be fucking jokin
- Level 2 or Scruples get some quite good bands in!
- Monroes, but not when buzz and the other rock dinosaurs r performin
- Monroes - i lived there.
- Carnegie for some great live acts, did u know the mighty Richard Ashcroft has played there many times. Also check out for the enormous lights man who looks like a fat clown
- Monroes.........................SUX
Carnegie, Check out Rab C Nesbit (He does the lights)
- Kirkgate Centre is in Cockermouth, NOT Workington. They're just jelous.
- Fusion... yeah man !!!!
i would say that is the only good spot to be.
- -chasers with crap DJ fergie, alias fudge also known as dougal.this boy needs some tips on how to entertain, he couldnt mix cement, the highlight and best bit of his slot is when he says "goodbye".
elliots-old man mikey is still kicking around and playing some old favourites, nice to see he is still going.
level II see' the face of chasers old, DJ maxi a good mix of music sees the night in and his mixing isnt to bad either.can tend to be TOO loud on the mic.
royal oak- even though he has the cheesey name of "marky mark" still a bright little DJ. shows good potential.and has brightend the oak up from the days of mike wilde.
fusion-tim j still shows his excellance in good DJing, also lee mills has a good ear for mixing.simon k cheerful little chappy can get a crowd rockin. vinyl man too much scratching shit but still a good entertainer.
finally to all you people that do remember i ask you this question"what ever happened to the days of Nick Naylor and Eric Finaly,a true stroke of brilliance in there time. the original entertainers of workington night life. this rarely seen duo gave chaseres its name for being the best pub in workington.wheres the comeback."
p.s who the fuck is DJ smashie cccccccccrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaappppppppppp!!
- monroes.the best local band i seen must have been mingos locker.ok they mostly do covers but so fuck they were rockin.
- FUSION HAS CLASS DJS. SIMON KAY IS VERY GOOD AND NOT BAD LOOKING TO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- FUSION HAD FRAGMA THERE THE OTHER WEEK THEY WERE ROCKIN!!!!!!!!!!!11
- civic hall, back of the aqarium,
- Monroe's. Good local bands are Streamer, Return, Tweezers, ROT and a few others
- Appletree is full of stinking greebos who need to get a life and join us all in the 21st century coz most of them are still living in the 70's
- nothing, workington has no music tallent what so ever!!!
- Appletree or monroes if your a greebo, or smell, or usually both!
- ELLIOTT'S- In it's early days it was the in place in town with music mixes from Elliott himself along with DJ Smashie the two of them certainly knew how to have a good nite ! At the moment there is just Mad Mikey & Jazzy Jav who between them couldn't even mix a cocktail and Mikey's irritating sweaking voice and seedy exploitation of women lowers the tone of the place to that of a two bit whore house The only good thing is that it is open until 2am if you are desperate for a late drink.
CHASERS-Must be avoided at al costs if the mechanic looking so called Flower arranger come garden shed DJ Flat Eric Finlay is st the decks pity he is still stuck in a time warp and doesn't know a new tune if it jumped up and hit him on the nose (must have at some time because it's so bent) as far as music is concerned he should stick to flower arranging at his wifes shop on Nook Street seems he isn't even good at that but tries which is more than he does at Chasers.Must not be missed if Maxi & Smashie(formally of Elliotts) are working a top nite will be had by all these two certainly know their stuff and have kept the pub alive for so long pity they were not appreciated a bit more for the good work they do !
ROYAL OAK- Marky Mark Leigh the current resident started off with Maxi as they both worked for Flat Eric Finlay Eric could not organise a P*** up in a brewery so mark had some common sence and took some good tricks of the trade from Maxi and went on his own now working for Keith Edwards direct and has turned the pub around since the days of Flat Eric's noah's ark style disco now Mark has loads of good lighting effects instead of Eric's single flashing 60watt bulb !
- Chasers.. live bands thursdays & sundays (Really crap Disco Fridays & saturdays especially if eric is doing it)
- Monroes has always been good. (even when it was Maralyn's and not Michaels)
Remeber "State of Mind" or "The Looser Kids" anyone?
- Chasers every Thursday and Sunday.......The bay city rollers played there two years ago!
thats meant to be good....honest!!!!
- Monroes Bar had been reburbished into an Irish bar; Michael Monroes. It still has live bands (some quite well known and popular) playing on Fridays and sometimes Saturdays.
- Kirkgate centre-for the local bands and guest appearences.
- The Carnegie Theatre, (Sand's Centre at Carlisle)
- Monroes Bar (this is not a pub, but an occasional music venue)
- The Forum has special guests most Saturdays
- Monroes Bar. Local rock and indie bands every week. Some big names. Council run. Cheap. Apple Tree excellent local bands once in a while. Cheap beer. Friendly atmosphere
