You can tell us more about Workington.
Pubs
- commercial inn the new landlord is killing this once fine real ale pub to young and knows it all
- chavs spoil em all with their dj/mc shit
- fusion!!!!!! chasers!!!!!!!!!!!
- Watch yersels in Chasers Pub. Even I, when sober, can kick the living daylights out of sumbody, in the alleyway, where there is no CCTV, who has had a skin full. The bouncers (note, "bouncers" and not "doormen") are so hard and brave!
- Again, xscape has a new manager and better beer. New staff and its on the way up...watch this space!!!
- Pubs in workington mostly seem to batter your head wid boom boom boom. While we stand with a pint under our chins, due to quantity in pubs. Dont think you can have a conversation in any of them around washington street area as you just can't be heard. If ya wanna have a chin wag, head towards The Royal George. Alternatively, have a dinner party. If looking for a bit of culture, try the Theatre Royal(when its open).
- Rail way club!!! full sized snooker table int middle of dance floor. wot else can u posibally want??????
- All the pubs in Wukinton town centre.
- yankees bar stinks of fart
- bouncers are fat juice pigs!
- Jailhouse!
- Barnabies
- the pubs round here do let underage drinkers in , half the folk round town are about 16!! jailhouse was gud ya start there and end bak there, but its bein refurbished at the minet!!
- Yankees is definately the best pub in Workington, great music, great cocktails n friendly staff!Even good through the day for something to eat.Sum fit bar staff wuk there, plus theres a waitress that is fit!plus her tits are fine!
- Passions is shite, all the bouncers think they are hard, but there not!
- ship
- The apple tree. It used to be full of goffs. But not anymore !!! ahaha we bummed them senseless.
- Jailhouse and Royal Oak. 2 best pubs in town by a mile!
- Yankees, Chasers, Jailhouse, Circuit Bar, Vine Bar, Barnabys, the well, passions, fusion, etc.
- royal oak is ze best
- THE LAND LADY HAS HAIRY NIPPLES
- MOORCLOSE PUB THEY ALL ARE CRACK HEADS
- the bull and bush used to be great for finding some owld slapper when you were off your face and wanted a night of no holds barred sex
- the apple tree should be avoided at all costs, it used to be cool but now sux so bad. its like that pub off first star wars film but with less friendly custom
- fusion that lad with the goatie beard can do things with his tongue that'll make your toes curl girls
- labour club if you want yer teeth smashed in
- Erm, theres none in w/ton. If i had to choose i'd choose yankees cos its always busy.
- Ye we got the best drinkin place in Cumbria, if you come to workington you have to do the circuit, its where you go round all the pubs in workington buyin at least one drink in one pub, bout 50 pints den
- red house and yankees
stay away from monrose only moshers go there and also stay away from fusion because chavs live there.
- jailhouse agen
- AWESOME thats the only way to put what the metal heads of this town have demanded for years and been given so far zero percent of sod all.....speed is comin your way bikes metal the whole shebang.....nothing shall be sacred any more......whatch this space
- THE PUBS ARE CRAP THEY ARE FULL OF WUKINTON JAM EATERS!
- MONROES!
- weatherspoons sux. the management sux. they alwasy have somehting to moan about.
- yankees is the best in town
- There is no way I will get in a Pub - the regulars are all too scary! I think they come from Northside!
- everyone who has writton a load of crap on this site is the reason workington is such a shitty dive. get a life you losers!
- WELL WHERE DO I START.WORKINGTON HAS A PUB FOR EVERY PERSON IN THE TOWN.CANT COMPLAIN A GOOD NIGHT OUT FOR A DRINK!!!BUT BE WARNED EVERONE IN WORKINGTON IS HARD EVEN THE 13 YEAR OLDS!!THEY ALL LIKE TO THINK SO.MOVE AWAY AND THEY WOULD GET A BIG CULTURE SHOCK!
- bull and bush
- level 2 is a gud pub so r many on the circuit
- What's happened to Workington - whilst even Whitehaven (or Jam Town as it's known to everyone) has cafe bars popping up, we're still getting forever more old man pubs. Level two could be fantastic, but they've just refurbished and made it look almost the same (thanks for more bars, can't say I've ever had a problem getting served quick tho!). Elliots - what the hell are they playing at theyve got rid of DJ Dave, the only reason to go in there, and got some goon in, now there is no point risking catching herpees off the puke ridden furnature - sadly its the same company who owns the rather nice Scruples - which is getting yet another refit before Elliots - they are stumped why their takings are down? In a word, sesspit.
JD Wetherspoons is fantastic, it would be nice to see another one pop up somewhere nearer the other pubs, on a Llyods format rahter than non-music variety.
Royal oak since DJ Mark left for L2 has become rather sad, their current DJ looks too young to be even in the pub yet his tunes are older than my dad.
Workington used to be a great laugh - it's time for a new breed of pubs, similar to Baa Bar, Bar 38 and Bar Med in Manchester, simple concepts... but much needed in poor ol wukkintun.
- Scruples/Chasers! Im old enough to remember when it was a cafe called the Mall or summat! it has always been "the" starting place and "the" end place. proud to have worked there loads from Kiltlifters to Jugs of cocktail to the new shooters bar, STAAAAFFFF! TAXI! Daz and Helen appreciated maras! about four other people know what i mean, j xx
- Scruples/ Chasers all the way, best bar staff ever, some have been there for years coz they all love it too xx
- yankees will always be the best place in town, wetherspoons is great to start off in - cheap drink, great music in barnaby's, no atmosphere in curwen, feet stick to floor in elliotts, royal oak is a total dive, level 2 reopens this week and is expected to be fantastic, jailhouse is on its last legs but you can't argue with the prices
- The pub in Workington is The Apple Tree in Finkle Street. They have the best music and the best atmosphere. As a foreign tourist it was the best place to be during my stay in Workington.
- The Circuit is grea on a Saturday night after everyone else has gone to the nighclubs. You can have the place to yourself, get on the pool table and be threatened by the bouncer at ten to eleven. Oh, and the beer tastes of piss as well...
- yankees
- appletree and the ship really, but then i like rock not dancec
- Scruples is shit. Just go in and laf at the tall gimpy looking twat called barry behind the bar
- Appletree Under new ownership not a trouble pub. Good quality home cooked food. Try the curry if you dare. Live bands Saturday nights. Kareoke Friday nights.
- FUSION WANTS BURNED DOWN THE SILLY LITTLE GAY BOYS WITH THERE GLOW STICKS ID RATHER JUMP OFF A BRIDGE THAN LISTERN TO THAT CRAP. FROM NIGEL U KNOW WHICH ONE.
- Yankees, you know what to expect. Wetherspoons if you want a cheap pint.
- the appletree is an absolute fuckin dive, but it used to be great for a lock in(cheers to steve and tian)
- Try the pubs in seaton ...nice and friendly people. The pubs in the town are old hat loud crap music full of drunken bums.Someone needs to change these drinking holes to something more sophisticated.
- yankees, red house and dukes have the best looking glass collectors in town! luv ya adam!
- Circuit bar staff gone downhill since the harlot left for Uni.......you know who you are !
- Scruples, one name; CJ. Barnaby's, we luv griff and tom does the best peppermint water in town. Try it 4 heartburn. If you're lucky at the royal oak they'll let u sing when its not karoake night and give u free drink 4 doin it. Elliots- their dance 'zone' is potentially deadly due to its height and the amount of pissed people dancing on it. Don't let the initial smell of level 2 put u off- its a really good place. We luv wayne's burger's. Ps does anyone actually know where the honkytonk is????? Legend has it that it draws absolutelt wasted people 2 it with its powers. But think about it, can u actually locate it sober? Exactly. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
- WEATHERSPOONS IS GOOD FOR A CHEAP PINT, BUT BE WARNED ABOUT THE NEW PUB CALLED BARRYMORES, WATCH YOUR BEHIND. LEVEL 2 BOUNCERS ARE MEATHEADS ESPECIALLY THE PENSIONER YAN
- its a cool night out but carlisles is 10 times better
- it costs about 5.00 pound for a bottle so its best to just get off your nut and drink water all the pubs are raving mad.
- Yankees is the best its always chocca and full of mint lads not mentioning any names. We always sit out the back and always get chatted up out there. As for clubs Passions rocks!! Fusion's OK. The best place to be though is Elliots last time i was there with my cousin there was a fight and i just cant resist watching a good fight. ROCK ON!!
- The Legion is a good place for patriotic drinking, games of dominoes, and friendly locals.
- THE STEAM PACKET IF YA LIKE COCK GET YERSELF THERE
- the moorclose, where the landlady Karen{pedro}blair, looks like the loch ness
monster.
- jam
- Workington's new pub is the Jailhouse. Lng time coming but well worth it. The DJ's are brill, just need to get the music turned up. Whats with al the quiet stuff???
- Commercial Great beer, Decent bunch of folk (bit old though)
Landlord called Cliff,He wants to throw himself off one, What a TOSSER this guy is, who does he think he is,no swearin,no laughin too loud,no shoutin,
dont drink too much,Like bein back in school.
- Well-Yankees is alrite 2 start the nite but if u're out late dont go coz u'r not missin much. Scruples has the best lookin staff it has 2 b sed! it also has a shooters bar and its only a £1 a drink on a thurs! BARGAIN! Circuits got about as much atmosphere as ur grannies knittin class but the drinks dirt cheap. Bluebell, red house, commercial --dont bother! Dukes is alrite i suppose. Barnabys is growin 2 b the best pub in town! go in at five 2 9 and its absolutely dead, 9 o' clock strikes and its absolutely bangin! spot on! it also has the towns friendliest bouncers! Curwens not bad coz all the lads seem 2 go there. Level 2 is great! just dont b a saddo and go there 2 start ur nite off coz its bollocks at that time. it is also THE place 2 watch the footy. Royal oaks not bad but can get a bit cramped. Elliots stinks and is full of teeny boppers. theres also the scruffy crew in their adidas pants and trainers lookin 4 a shag.
- The best pub in the town centre has to be Scruples it has the friendliest staff not to mention the best looking eighteen year old glass collector ever. Some of the younger bar staff aint bad either. The only problem is that seen as though the whole zebras team works here you might as well shut down the pub when they want a night off. (how rude)
- WE WANT MORE ZONE CHOONS ON IN SCRUPLES, IN FACT IN ALL THE PUBS!
- The Steam Packet sells Poppers
- Yankees what can i say spacious, clean, tidy, good atmosphere, nice cheap dink, good glass collectors and a wide variety of music. Get yourself there
- turd unless u'r into dance culture
- Barnaby's workington's newest no1 bar on wilson st. call in to see trendy decor and hear the latest tunes played by workingtons best DJ Griff. Check out the talent behind the bar and infront. Barnaby's attracts the hottest and trendiest folk from all over the county so check us out.
- If you ever wanted to know what it feels like to be a baked bean with high heels go round the 'circuit'. On Saturdays it is a stinky, sweaty God awful experience. Am sure some alien race has brain washed entire town's population into believing this is fun! Is ok on Sundays.
- fusion should drop the admission price or reduce it to 2 or 3 quid as opposed to 7/8/10 quid
frankly ive bin to better clubs//drinking holes in blackpool n places that are free to get in ,than this shit hole where u pay a fortune to get in..
- appletree rules
- Royal oak is the best pubn in Workingtoin!!!!!!! thay play the beat music and serve the best drinks!!!!! What can i say all the best bar staff work their including Ema,Mal,Kv,Daz,Nicola,Melissa,Stef!!!!!also many more they are all flippin mental!!!!!!!!!! so get yourself to ROYAL OAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- The newest pub to be opened is Dukes. Excelent music and a great atmosphere, these DJ's certainly know how to rock, just a shame it's a tad small. Keep an eye out for Witherspoons, the Jail house and barnaby's (oposite Dukes) also coming soon. How many pubs can one town have??
- Moorclose pub is always full of smackheads
- Miners arms one of the glass collectors needs a shave like
- Yankees is class, Elliots is shite, u stick to the floor, Level 2 is the place to be when England r playin, rockin atmosphere. Scruples on a Thursday night, £1 to get in and £1 a drink, get to the shooters bar and get HAMMERED.
- soak up the sun and atmosphere in the sportsman beergarden. the regulars are a sound bunch. hit the royal oak for about 21:00 to experience one of the most lively pubs in the uk.its only small but the revelors are all mad and well up for it.
- YANKEES - Fairly decent with friendly bar staff, SCRUPLES - isn't the same since they changed it from Chasers, CIRCUIT - squashed in like sardines, RED HOUSE - I used to like Biddys myself especially coz you could roll your own in the back room!, DUKES - Didnt like Raffles, dont like Dukes you can never get served, SPORTSMAN - some of the best looking barstaff in town (and Bernie) ELLIOTS - scummy, you catch something by going to the toilets, ROYAL OAK - always chocka, decent muff, not bad choons(getting cheesy now though!) LEVEL2 - the only pub in town that would do well in a city, big, brash and good for watching footie, APPLETREE - only go their for a fight, or if u cant be bothered to get changed and u fancy a pint.
- Burn down the Royal Oak with that fat dj toasting like a marshmellow!
- miners arms the best pub in town if u dont mind big mitch swearing
- i used to live in wukinton i dont go very often now but the last time i was there i went into the miners arms.It was fantastic( mitch the landlord take him with a pinch of salt)loads of young good looking girls. Ah mitch he speaks his mind but he is very friendly honest.
- The Appletree on Finkle St... you can go in there without knowing anyone, & within an hour, you feel like its your local. A few weird & wonderful sights there, but that makes for the entertainment value, all very friendly people. Becky, that owns the pub is a real hero, & the rest of the bar staff are the nicest bunch of people you will ever meet (except for toni, if she's having a bad day - youngish girl with glasses) Live blues/rock bands on a saturdauy night... & then at last orders go next door to Munros, for more of the same!!!!
- Yankees, Scruples, Level 2, Travellers (to start off)
- ELLIOTS
- level 2 - best pub in town, to work in as weel
- STEAM PACKET
- FUSION IS THE PLACE 2 B
- Cliff Rushforth keeps a belta of a pint of jennins but he is a laal shit he doesent let you swear even in the BAR!!!!
- The Royal Oak staff are the best in cumbria!
- level 2 is wank!! so is royal oak ( stivie is a cock!)! elliots stinks of piss & yankees is full of dirty old men!! scruples is the place 2 b!!! the bar staff are wicked & the music is quality!!
- Elliotts is proper pant's
- Go 2 Yankee's it's the best (& most successful) pub in the circuit by far.
The new Scruples........well i'm not 2 sure whether to put that under this category or the coffee shops 1, It's kind of a gaybar.
Royal Oak, well all i have to say is "WHAT A WASTE OF TIME, MONEY, & EFFORT" If your gonna close it to do it up at least make it bloody noticeable, i can't balieve the times & star did a special on it. R THEY MAD!! But seriously it really it's utter pants. Mark Leigh is kak, how can he call himself a DJ? Go on mark play that Cd just 1 more time! Millenium Disco my arse! Royal Oak, a definite no-no = sardines in a can. The only thing Royal about the place is the sweat on the walls as it's been there for ages!
Elliotts...........well jesus wept. You thought Royal oak was bad, wait till u hear this fucker! It's that bad in there even the walls sweat, don't even bother going to the bog it's like the toilet off trainspotting. The carpet's an UTTER DISGRACE! And the Dj is a revolting little toad. And i heard some guy in yankees the other week saying he got charged for water in there 60p for a half! Erm, Is this a trading standards issue?
- where do I start raffles now closed used to be a great pub as Pete and Libby were spot on. Yankees even though its extened is still to small with pints that taste of shite. Scruples is the only modern looking decent pub in town with good music ,other pubs should take this into considration forget circuit, red house or should i say yankees 2 is ok ,sportsman shite, eliotts stinking death trap, royal oak has a shit big headed dj and is to small anywhere further than halifax bank is a no go area unless you want bummed to death.
- The Circuit Bar is a must! Heaving from 8pm, you won't want to go anywhere else... I say that from a social stance and not 'cos i have served most of you for the last five years, so... I will be back from uni yet again this xmas to top up your tipples, see y'all soon...xxxCharlottexxx
- mooch and monty are always steaming in passions and looking for some good time girls but always end up ratarsed and walking the streets looking for partys
- Dont like the new Scruples, it is trying to be the Milk Bar or Manchesters Loaf. Good idea wrong geography. Elliots is the one but perlease its about time for a refit and a carpet.
- The Commercial Inn, Market Place - the only place to go for 'real' ale, a charming landlord and landlady and no teenies in sight!
- Its a banging night out in workington everybody would enjoy it but one suggestion when on the circuit miss Yankees out it is the crappiest pub ever anbd its full of dirty old men!!
- Chasers is no more!!! since its closure for renervation its also changed its name to 'scruples' Its a brilliant pub with a bigger screen for the footie matches, more seats and tables a bigger dance floor and more new brilliant staff. But its a bit too posh for workington.
- The 'Tree is a dodgy place. Don't even go near it. Or down towards the docks. They're ALL dodgy. Go to the Sportsman, though. Cracking ales, good music, fit birds (if you're pissed), and even fitter barmaids!
- chasers is sound if eric aint spinning his shiteall nite
- THE ROYAL OAK IS THE BEST PUB IN WORKINGTON. IT HAS GOOD MUSIC AND A GOOD CROWD GO THERE. IT IS COOL!!!!!!!!!!!
- Elliot's? SACK THE D.J's and the manager. Fuck it,just shut the shithole.
- The best 1 has to be elliots even if u do stick to the carpets.
- get chatted up by Peter Cottier
- ELLIOTS IS COOL BUT YA FEET STICK TO THE FLOOR! THE NEW LEVEL 2 IS WICKED BUT DRINK IS PRICEY AND ROYAL OAK IS THE BEST PUB EVER IT HAS A GOOD DJ AND WICKED PEOPLE BAR STAFF IT IS ROCKIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- leos,slys,minshaws,bubbles,crown,navy club,labour club,station,glasson,glasson welfare,swan,bounty,sailors return,squash club,broom vaults,kings arms.
- Red House is open again but personally I prefered Biddy Mulligans, it was the ideal place to have a smoke in the pool room and dance on the pool table.
Curwen has got Who wants to be a Millionare on the quiz machine (loads of fun)
- workington has the best pub crawl cercuit in cumbria,
you start of at chasers which is cool but a bit too crowded, then you go to the cercuit bar, this is mainly where moshers hang out at, then you go to raffles which is a little pub but a good atmosphere, then its directly to yankees, but whatch out cos one of the bar staff used to keep sheep in his garage (a bit dodgy or what, then its straight to the 'ye olde sportsman' (better known as the 'henry Curwen' this is the best pub in workington again i work here i should know, but it is a bit expensive!!!
the it all the way to the royal oak for its famous titanic drink but if you are a bit clostrophobic the its bet to avoid here as it is packed like sardines in a tin, and the last place to go is elliots bar, if you wanna pick up a chic or a bloke the this is the place to go, if you dont then stay well away from the balcony well thats where my mates go cos they need to pull!!!
and then when you have finished the pub crawal its over to fusion night club for a celabratory drink!!!! and a bit of dancing and smooching
- chasers, eliots, ye old sportsman, royal oak, moorclose pub with lounge, westfield pub with lounge.
- for the best pub crawl in cumbria it has to be workington - such a small town but so many pubs and clubs -the best nightlife ever - very friendly people - if you haven't been to wukinton get yer sel there marra - full of smiley happy gorgeous people having a laugh - wot more could you ask for -
- Chasers, yankees, royal oak, appletree
- Why not pop in to The Royak Oak for a fun packed evening, with the best music and bar staff the world has ever known (excludimg Kev Norman)
- Chasers - Actually seen this DJ Eric; he's really good if you like a varied mix of stuff, not just yer continual "thud thud thud, no tune" trancey crap. Age range in here is dropping (yer know whatt i mean), and the muzac can be a bit repetetive when the kiddy DJs is on.
- Try Elliot's for its unique sauna-like atmosphere
- Chasers really is the spot! Look out for when Nick Naylor's back in town, and for when he's on with Maxi and Smashie. Nick even does his own remixes. Kool! Avoid Eric. Chasers often has live bands on on Bank Holiday Monday afternoons - look out for the Bullfrogs; the best ass-kickin' live band in the area.
Traveller's Rest - Fun quiz on Monday nights with Gareth Marshall, the only quizmaster that can't pronounce his own questions.
- Elliotts is definitely the best pub in workington, and I think that Mikey is sexier than Mark Leigh any day, The royal oak would be a hell of a lot better if Sean didnt love himself so much.
- chasers, the royal oak, chasers, the royal oak........ ohh and yankees nearly forgot!
- Check out the apple tree, its a rock pub friendly staff a bit rough round the edges but if you have the balls and you like and you like headbanging with a load of stoned old hippies youll be in metal heaven.
Also check out the ship very small bar maids look like men but the metal just keeps flowing and flowing.
- Pockets, oops.
- Elliott's used to be good but needs air conditioning - too sweaty.
Chasers (if only to try a Kiltlifter!)
Yankees (Bombers for £1)
The Royal Oak is nice now that it has been decorated
Raffles is still too small
Biddy Mulligans (formerly The Red House) isn't as good as a real irish pub! (they don'y even serve guinness)
The Circuit Bar - where all the sixth formers hand out (and work behind the bar)
The Royal George on Guard Street - it's huge since it has been renovated - good quizzes on Wednesday nights.
- Chasers my pub!!!!!!
The worlds best bar staff
- May I recommend The Ship at Allonby for B & B ?. I stayed there recently. Nice rooms,Great food and beer and good people..
- Why, when having a quiet night's drinking in Workington, does everyone think that "you've got a problem mate?"
- The Green Dragon Hotel Portland Square Workington 01900 603803 Entertainment most weekends.
- Chasers is a decent pub on the main circuit, which sometimes has live bands.
- henry curwen is overpriced, elliots has a sticky carpet
- Rizzos-the pub for the young, mr rizzo himself runs this little beauty. Uncle Sams-this is the liveliest pub in cockermouth and has dimed lights and a disco,if your one for a quiet sit down this isn't the place to go. Bitter End-this ones for the oldies, my mate tells me the owners abit of a witch. The huntsman-my friend tells me that the toilet window is very handy for sneaking in. The kingfisher-sign recently renovated to a kingfisher instead of a toucan, apparently it has a very nice back yard. The globe-one for the young ones again. The brown cow-good sunday lunches. The black bull-good pool table.
- Workington is well populated with pubs. Here's a few I recommend (will I get a free pint?) recomended for teens and twenties
- The Royal Oak
- The Henry Curwen
- Elliots (see Clubs)
- The Red House
- Other good pubs include
- The Brewery House, High Harrington
- Yankees, Washington St.
- More good pubs: Raffles, The Circut, and Chasers and Yankees which have recently been renovated (quite posh actually)
- Elliots is not actually a club, but still the best pub in town.
- Try to avoid the pubs near the train station, and docks as they can be quite rough.
- Chasers on Washington Street.
- All of them are excellent - you can have a bloody good night out in Workington, since the security bouncer system has been going there have been very few fights too - look out for them driving roung in the jeep on a saturday night. Try a Kiltlifter in Chasers!
- Not many people will be able to tell you what there like cause everyone gets legless so that the birds look nice
