The Best Things in Worthing, West Sussex*

If you're around, be sure to check these things out

You can tell us more about Worthing.

The Best Things
  • I haven't found any yet in six years of living in this dump.
  • the people in the scene have more of unique style compared to the city, worthing overall has a pretty detroit feel to it, what with lots of abandoned buildings and the whole town prety much being rebuilt, very diy punky place to live when you think about it
  • The beach critters.
  • The colour of the sea on one of those rare sunny days.
  • Casanovas barbers on chapel road opposite the town hall, great friendly staff how I think can just about do anything with your hair far Superior to any other barbers including tony and guy
  • aquarena
  • Well, if the polar icecaps melt as expected, then Worthing, being a sea side town...
  • Clean and friendly (mostly).
  • The beach The south Downs
  • That sheep in worthing museum that baas at old people and scares them as they walk past.
  • some fit girls, hayley mcdermott...........(one of them)
  • THE MARKET ON WEDNESDAY DESPITE ALL OF THE TAT
  • The beach and the downs. What's in between, i.e. Worthing, is pretty nondescript.
  • I was born here in 1956. growing up in (George V Ave) in the sixties was amazin. We were the only family on the bottom half of the road for a couple of years. For a Kid, West Park was one big adventure, the air raid shelters , open space , access to the woodlands , secret passages . It was a kids dream. The town was special not as large a centre as now. Saturday mornin at the Odeon, a walk along the prom, browsing in Edglers book shop (long gone in Rowlands road). Trips to Brighton to watch B&H albion, ........ Fond memories
  • Well I guess there's two Macari's (ice cream places) yummy :P
  • There is nothing to recommend a visit to this place.
  • Yes, i admit it im a so called 'boyracer' and i think there is no problem with teville gate. ive been going there for 2 yaers now and have neaver had any problems, and i have neaver seen any violence!!!
  • Being by the sea!
  • Crystal clear days on the sea front wandering through town, taking in the fresh air. Oh - and Cissbury ring is cool too.
  • Worthing is really accessible and a lot cheaper to live in than Brighton - so close to Chichester as well as Arundel (great venue for summer ramblings and pub lunches) - it's fab living by the sea. Low level of posers.
  • going there on a sunny weekend to visit mum and my old friends who still live down there..the seaside, the downs the nostalgia , the worthing scum
  • Hmmmm... always being able to walk somewhere or go to a pub and see someone you know. Can buy just about anything anywhere.
  • Leaving in 1992 after living there for years as a child
  • its not far away from brighton!
  • Emma & Shelley!!!
  • The signs leading out of Worthing.
  • 'Puppetry of the penis' at the Pavilion on 29th June. Fantastic. Non sexual (Steve Stevens please note). Packed pavilion and brilliant atmosphere. Worthing Theatres have to be congratulated on that one!. So there. Be grateful we have sunshine - that's got to be a bonus, come on! Not too much scummy foam on beach at moment and no £5.00 parking charges like Climping and Westbeach (be warned). A lovely old lady who lives in Goring who feeds my partner with kit kats, marshmallows and copious amounts of bitter lemon when he's working, and, also buys food for dogs belonging to the homeless and takes it into the town centre. There is compassion in Goring afterall. Worthing is not Lancing. Nuff said...
  • I thought I should make a mention to you about a new store that I recently found the Film Store on Teville road. I went there recently thinking that it was just going to be another rental store but was shocked to find that it is a whole lot more. The staff are all film-makers!the store is not only a rental store but a retail store sellinf dvd's film books, collectable toys it is absolutly brilliant. I spent over an hour chatting to the staff about movies etc and for the first time in any store I have ever been to found that they will give over there time to chat to customers and go that extra mile to find information out for you. It was so pleasing to see local lads and lasses who through their love of film create this absolutly magical place. well I thought it was worth mentioning that I now go there at least twice a week for a refreshing experience in retail and rental.
  • Close enough to Brighton to enjoy a good night out there, close enough to the countryside to have a good day out there. Only having to put up with the place on breaks from uni!
  • WORTHING HAS THE BEST LOOKING WOMEN IN THE SOUTH.
  • I live there. very close to brighton.
  • The beach in Summer, The Dome Cinema, Eshna's Nutrition.
  • women in summer
  • The sea front; Pier; some shops, Browns the greengrocers !! museum, Parks, atmosphere is good .
  • Beautiful gardens
  • June, July and August once the seaweed has gone.
  • The sea, The Downs, Spring
  • where else but worthing can you get a free cup of tea every saturday? the anarchist teapot collective are out there serving up free tea and their own little bit of anarchy to weary shoppers in montague street from around 12 til 2 every week. go along and get your free cuppa, pick up some subversive literature, or just have a chat. they're really nice people, even if they do have a tendency to dress in black!
  • Whoever said one of the best things about Worthing are the topless babes on the beach, is lying. Worthing is notoriuos for arresting people for showing the slightest inclination to take their tops off (and that even includes men!)
  • JB's, the downs, the sea, combining the three. JB's.
  • Laughing at the boy racers in their crap cars. The Sea. The Downs. (Most of) the people.
  • The best thing about Worthing is that the town has the best basketball team in the country (back to back playoff champions, the Worthing Bears) who play in the national Budweiser League. Home court is the Worthing Leisure centre.
  • It's big enough to have loads of friends, and is far enough away from Brighton to be cushioned by Shoreham. Good to go out on the razzle.
  • The town also made a bit of a name for itself over recent years for the national-news-hitting talent show held at the Pier Pavillion and hosted by Doc Cox (from That's Life) [Shouldn't this be a "worst thing"?]
  • Worthing is a great town, especially if you are old and want to retire. As for the youngsters, well you could hang around the bandstand. That is cool if you are under 12, I guess! It is easy to get out of Worthing because it has five stations (if you count Durrington and Goring). It has the Dome Cinema.
  • The best thing about Worthing is it has the sea at the bottom and the South Downs at the top. Forget the bandstand and the shops, get a real life and get into the fresh air!
  • Connaught Theatre - Union Place - 01903 235333
  • Large Public beach with free parking out side of the town centre.
  • Summer on the beach... mmmmhph topless babes
  • It's NOT Brighton! A poem called "Hove Actually" Brighton, oh sleaze and slut, pretension by the sea you may be, London you are not.
