I’m looking for members of 60s Beat/mod/R&B/Soul and even Psychedelic bands from Sussex and the South Coast area’s during the years 1961 -1967.

I’m interested mostly in hearing your stories, seeing pictures and hopefully you may have old acetate demos, (or if you were one of the lucky groups who actually managed to record a 45)... It would be so fantastic if you would contact me and maybe contribute a song or two to my compilation LP project.

What got me into wanting to make this LP was when I managed to purchase a copy of Horsham’s The Beat Merchants debut 45 ‘Pretty Face’ on Columbia. It made me think that surely there were other bands from the area that never got as lucky as The Beat Merchants.

If you were in a band from the 60s and were based in East or West Sussex please feel free to contact me and reminisce to me about your times in the 60’s.

Because if I have enough material I may even try and write a column for 60’s beat magazine Shindig about the Sussex & South Coast BEAT SCENES.

Hi there, I'm looking for photos from The Factory club (Now Liquid Lounge) from back in the early to mid '90's and was wondering if anyone could help? My photo collection from that era is sadly lacking and despite the bittersweet nature of my times there I'd appreciate seeing some pictures from back then. Alternatively (Pun intended) photos from The Wine Lodge from the same era, or from The Balmor al from between '95-'96. Hi there, I'm wondering if anyone knew a family named Christensen. Eva P Christensen died in Worthing in 1941 aged 58 and was married to Frank L Christensen. I'm really trying to track Frank but have had no luck. Any info welcome. Thanks Kate Reply

The I.C.P. ( Ice Cream Parlour ) Next to the Dome cinema and owned and run by an Italian family in the 40s 50s and 60s cant remember the name but think it began with an M ! Anyone that was around in their teens in the 50s remember it ??????? I lived at 113 The Strand in the late 40s until 1955 then moved to 4 Cavendish Close until 1958 My two younger sisters ( Janet and Sheila )went to a church school in Mulberry Lane Goring I attended Broadwater School ( later to be called Downland School ) until 1950 then attended Tarring Secondary Modern until January 1954 and worked at the Tarring Joinery until I joined the Mechant Navy in 1955 ( which I left in 1962 ) Has anyone memories of the open space bordered by The Strand and Maybridge Square and in particular the night of November the 5th 1951 when there was a huge bonfire and a certain Mr Stepney threw a WW11 Mills bomb ( hand grenade ) into the Bonfire which caused considerable mayhem and panic among the revellers Fortunately there were no injuries but the proceedings then ended with the arrival of the fire brigade and the police A policeman lived at 117 The Strand ( Sergeant Tierney ) and he promptly arrested Mr Stepney ( I hasten to add here that Mr Stepney was VERY inebriated ) I never discovered the outcome of the incident but managed to contact his son IRVINE ( quite a famous local boxer ) about 45 years ago but have since lost touch ( he would now be about the same age as myself ) ( 71 ) If anyone has any recollections of those days Re. the Maybridge Estate I would love to hear from them on here John Bottomley ... more >> Reply

Miss Harriett Fuller who later married a Mr John Mark O'Donaghue at Dorset Gardens Methodist Church Brighton. What I would love to know is in 1892 she was presented with a Clock as a wedding present from the Sunday School teachers of Bedford Row Methodist Church, Worthing. Her profession was a dressmaker. She lived at 33 South Street,WorthingThere was another Lady lived as a lodger named Ellen M . Harrison. I would love to know where the CLOCK was bought.? The CLOCK has a plaque on it at the front, which says Presented to Miss Fuller by the Officers and Teachersof the Bedford Row Wesleyan Sunday School Upon the Occasion of her Marriage Worthing April 15th 1892 Can anyone tell me or give me any information about this lady, and where the clock was bought The clock is a mantal Clock Was it somewhere in Worthing ? 10 year old Emma has had surgery for Scoliosis and is now campaigning to raise awareness of the condition and for all children in the UK to have the very simple 'bend forward' test to get an early diagnosis of Scoliosis. She has an online petition at http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/start-testing-for-scoliosis-in-schools. Emma is aiming for 1000 signatures and currently has just short of 300... I'd like to see this figure go through the roof!!! This is an issue close to my heart as my son was diagnosed with adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis at 16 and had surgery last november when he was aged 18 and a half. Many thanks!
