  • Wrapid, located at the top of Coney Street around the corner from Betty's, provides customers with a selection of fast-food from all over the world at affordable prices. From Britain to India, from China to Mexico, there's something for everybody here. It's great if you just fancy chilling out with a coffee and a cake as well. Good food, great service and comfy seats, make this place a great stop for a time-out when you visit town.

  • There are 5, yes 5 STARBUCK's in york! one in borders, one on coney street, one on coppergate and one in the designer outlet!
  • City Screen - the cafe or outside in the summer and you can get a table looking out over the river

  • Cafe Nero does a nice mocha but pants seating area: i buy my coffee there then go drink it in Costa's as the seating area is nicer there! ( ok- ive only done it once but hey)

  • The Juice House on the Shambles serves excellent fruit smoothie things.
  • Slug and Lettuce - trendy and smart
  • Tea on the Green
  • Avoid Starbucks - these guys make the staff do everything, including the cleaning, and they set up four Starbucks in a town to try to swamp the market and force out the other coffee shops.
  • Nero
  • Loads of good ones. Cappuccinos on Church street does the best (and widest selection of) Milkshakes in the world!
  • Mowbrays down Stonegate is the best place in the world during non-tourist hours. Everything is homemade including their deliciouis ice cream.
  • Everyone has to say Bettys. But only if you're over 50 and arte prepared to wait half an hour to get a seat. And if you have lots of money to spend. Kinky waitresses in french uniform though.
  • TRY CAPITINO NEAR MAYHEM/ GREAT
  • Mowbrays is cool and has interesting and tasty ice-cream flavours. Lucy's cafe on one of the bridges is good for amusing customers and good service.
  • Mowbray's, on Stonegate is really cool, and sells the best carrot cake ever!
  • Don't bother with the cafes. Check out any of the Thomas of York bakeries - very cheap and very tasty. Always worth waiting in the queues.
