The entirely missable and worth mentioning because of it
You can tell us more about York.
| The Worst Things |
|
- Duncombe place outside the Minster where delivery vans park at the end in the turning circle outside the minster itself, best one is the CAMPSIE vans that use the area as a distribution hub, one vehicle parks for long periods and others arrive and depart transfering parcels for onward shipment.
- Monks Cross
- the cops who remebr your face and watch out to nikc you - just because your on benefits and they arnt
- The ring road is a joke. Public transport from anywhere outside the ring road leaves a lot to be desired. Beer can be expensive with it being a tourist city. Coney Street on a Saturday afternoon is great, if you wanna be crushed to death.
- Bloody Tourists, if you live in York its a pain in the arse to just have a stroll around the streets. They are everywhere and cos they paid to come here think they own the bloody place!
CHAVS!!! York is full of the nasty thieving little scum bags. What on earth makes them think they look good in a tacky baseball cap and a cheap tracksuit???? A message to all CHAVS....go crawl back down that filthy cess pit from where you came, and die very very slowly.
- pikies moving in to calf close in haxby intergration DOESNT MIX YORK CITY COUNCIL
- parking costs, and congestion
- yobs
- the ignorant tourists
- TANG HALL!!!!!!!!!!!I NOTICED THE GUY WHO WROTE HAXBY. I LIVE IN HAXBY ND IT'S KOOL FULL OF OLD GRANNIES NOT SOVRIN WEARIN, VIOLENCE LOVING CHAVS!!!!LIKE TANG HALL.
- Hull road itself is ok... Pizza Hut, Blockbuster, Chinese, takaways etc for all the student delights (including great furniture shop), but its the gateway to tang hall... the crappest place to live EVER- I like right near it (Badger Hill- quite a popular area to live apparently) and all these dings come round asking me if I have a cigarette they can borrow (are they ever gonna give me them back?) and try to wreck the life there!
- The talent is all under 16.
- Townies, always there , 'aaaaaarrrrrrrrrr im off to lissen to sum bangin cheowns aaaaarrrrrrrrr'
- No really good venues or clubs - Leeds is nearby though!
- Whoever wrote that Tang Hall wmc is one of the worst things in york obviously hasn't been there before! This club is one of the best in york with attractive bar staff and plenty of friendly customers
- Oaklands school it is crap
- Oaklands school it is crap
- Outside of the city walls there's dog shit and dirt everywhere - watch your step!
- all the mas on dings and ard guys
- bladers, fakes, townies
- townies dings scallies trendies! whateva u wana call them!
- Tang Hall, absolute hell hole, townies galore, bike or car unlocked it will be gone if you blink, down the street driven by a 5 year old.
a couple of years ago, cops found a 8 year old junkie, addicted to crack coke and heroine living in tang hall. the craziest thing i ever did was walk down etty dressed a goth for £15, i barely made it out alive.
- clifton, tang hall, and acomb and the raaffs that live there. Tang Hall isn't half as bad as it used to be in the 80's.
- townies and the quality of weed
- People putting down the place they come from.
- Minster
- Lack of decent Bars and clubs and.....hmm whats that thing I used to eat back in the day.............oh yeah, PUSSY.
- york bastard uni.
- Pigeons in town and geese in Rowntree's park. Dirty creatures :-(
- Tanghall lane!
- Just thought i'd have my say on the whole 'Yorkites: Friendly or Wankers?' issue. I've lived here for a couple of years now, and the one thing I always knew - which everyone should know, really, is that people are different. its true that York has its fair share of rednecks, yobs, dickheads *locals*, and so on. its true that sometimes its a bit of a pain in the arse to have to watch your back walking down a city street. but at the same time, lets face it - theres a whole lot worse. try coming from a midlands shithole like i did. York has its bad nights (fridays/saturdays, any nights when the races are on) and bad areas, but it does well in other respects - its a lot safer than other places. and yes, its true that yorkshire 'unfriendliness' can occur in places - but thats to be expected in a place where over summer, 9/10 people you meet will be foreign (which, i hate to say it, can instantly put the hackles up most people, especially if theres a comunication breakdown). maybe this 'test of character', ie the unfriendliness, can be a bit irritating at times, but not all people are like that - only a minority that I have met. on the whole, the breakdown on people here is much the same as anywhere else, only its, well, better! - better than a lot of other places. true, when its bad, its bad, but for gods sake....we could be coventry. think about it, people!
- we dont have an ice rink ( i dont think)
- Students from York Uni. Horrible posh nob headed wankers. Feel free to beat the shit out of them at will
- Clubs - they're all terrible. Also, the baseball-cap & shell-suit-wearing 15-year olds who swarn round tang hall and surrounding areas.
- The mingers(there are far too many and they are far too abundant for when drunk and playing the very-hilarious-at-the-time pull as many mingers as possible)
- The council estates: Chaplefields, foxwood, kingsway west and north, bell farm, clifton(in general)and the place quoted as 'worse than bosnia'tang hall. There are others but they are not even worth a mention.
- The grebos in york there is hundreds of them walking around with there shit slipknot fleeces on and there skateboards gfet a life u look minging
- Everyone from York University. Every one there has an A-Level in being a twat. Toffy nosed bastards, I hate them.
- YORK
- Not enough totally cute and single skaters around
- Coppers/Law galore lot of beer gets wasted
- THE BOUNCERS ON GALLERY! THEY SHOULD SMILE ONCE IN A WHILE, WE ALL KNOW THEY'RE THERE TO DO A JOB BUT SERVICE WITH A SMILE WOULD BE NICE.
- THE TOWNIES
- The arrogance of the City Council in that it thinks it doesn't need to listen to the citizens of York.
- Tang Hall W.M.C - this is not an advertisement
- All the roads in and out except the A64 from Leeds. The A1237 outer ring road is a bag of shite that should have been dual carraigeway and is in danger of becoming a car park from Acomb to Earswick.
- York uni, clubs, lack of slappers, cyclists
- townies!!
- Needs better clubs, although Leeds is only 20 mins by train.
- Actually I would like to stick up for that area called Tang Hall, I have lived here for 3 years thankyou very much, and it isn't all bad. If you want real narrow minded thugs try Haxby-especially the Red Lion. I grew up in haxby so i know what I am talking about, middle class white trash ghetto.......
- You see that bit about Tang Hall?
PLEASE believe it. Etty Avenue is renowned over the whole city, and I lived there for a year. You want kids lighting fires in the street? You want 4-year-olds breaking into your house (allegedly), and the law not being able to touch them?
That's the sort of thing you can expect from Tang Hall.
- Pathetic public transport
- This city is out of date and the public transport is a joke. The local paper insists in putting pictures of miserable people in and is next to useless for information and news.
- an estate called Tang Hall it is an absouloute HELL HOLE, enter at your own risk. York racecourse
- Jacksons store on Bishopthorpe road, The queue is always long and the service is mega slow especially when you get old biddies thumbling in their purse and stating that they can get something 1p cheaper at another store.
Sopping in york is anightmareish RIP OFF.
- The townies & the tourists
- The night-life (apart from the many pubs) is fairly crap. Not really any live music venues, and the clubs are generally bad.
- The nightlife is crap. The bouncers who think they're dead smart.
- The rednecks.
- That fountain in the middle of Parliament Street.
- lack of decent professional jobs forcing me to move away.
- York is heavily polluted by motor traffic. Recent official figures have shown that one location in York is the second worst polluted site of all monitored sites in the UK (Nitrogen Oxides). Most of York is likely to become one of the government's "Air Action Zones" in 2005. The Council will be legally obliged to remedy the situation. Their support for cycling, walking and public transport is laying the foundations for a less polluted future.
- There is no talent whatsover. This is hard to belive considering the 2 Universities, the law college and the army barracks but never the less the truth. If you want talent go to Beverley.
- the ring road
- The stinking diesel buses choking the place
- Terrible city for car drivers as huge chunks of the city centre are pedestrian only, and there are many baffling one way systems. Not much in the way of city centre parking, but there is a park & ride scheme in operation.
- Public transport is fairly hopeless, consisting of little hopper buses for the most part.
- Summer and Christmas are a nightmare of tourists. Millions of them descend on York and the city becomes very busy.
- Speed bumps. In recent years the city has been covered in speed bumps, little roundabouts and other speed restrictions. Very frustrating.
- Totally crap football team.
- Correction: How dare you describe my team (York City) as totally crap? Please reserve that description for the likes of Scarboro, Hull City and Doncaster Rovers.
- House prices are very high, as are rent prices. There is plenty of student accommodation but most of it is pretty crud.
- All the bloody tourists (especially the Americans) and all the crap that goes with them.
- The nightclubs are shit, tourists (all of them!) and somebody should do something about the pavements.
- York may well be aesthetically pleasing to some but the high proportion of squaddies, young farmers and small town inbreds means it's not the safest please for an evening stroll.
- Hull Road is the 'turf' of a gang of pimply would-be ruffians who bomb around in a white Cortina trying to be tough and generally making a nuisance of themselves.
