Thomas (Tom) Kirkwood was my grandfather, He was in a rest home in Portrush when he passed away. I visited with my father in 1965. Grandad died a few years later aged 92 (approx). Grandad was a cobbler by trade when he worked in Portglenone and Ahoghill. He had an artificial leg. He had several children. Thomas the eldest, Isaac who moved to High Wycombe in England and Samuel David (my father) who moved to Worcester England after his discharge from the army in 1946. If anyone knows anything about him or his descendants, or the name of the rest home please let me know. i can't help feeling that the port has went down hill since norm left! he was so carasmatic and a wonderful way with all his customers. he was a real dreamboat, many a day i would go in a look at the mgazines but really i was hoggling over him. often i would buy sweets that were on the bottom shelf just so i could see him bend over. i often longed to to stroke his hair and hold his special hand. i even bought myself a pair of leather gloves just like his. i wish he fisted me. ... more >> Reply

I was in Whiteabbey Girls Training School Northern Ireland myself and can find no documentation or photos of the institution so I started this website so others can reunite. I know this is a longshot, but does anyone know of the Millar family that used to live on Black rock Road in Portrush? I am an old friend of Neil Millar, and last heard from him years ago when he was traveling in Australia. He used to be a bike courier in Vancouver, Canada back in 1989 I think.... This started 6 years ago and i dont suppose the locals now even know who started the ball rolling, cause most of end moving away...Well fare dues for the port, hope the design will be up to the demand of Ireland's skaters, cuse they will all reach it some day...
