Is there anyone that can help me find Lorraine King. She also went by Lorraine Barber (one name was from het stepfather stationed at Mildenhall or Lakenheath). Lorraine met an american guy named Brian Hand at the Lakenheath high school in the later 80's. Lorraine married Brian and moved to the states around 1990. The TV host "Ricky Lake" was unable to locate Lorraine in the mid 90's. Last I heard Brian was stationed at an Airforce base in Texas around >>more

Nigel Simson by Nigel Thomas (Member 97130) on 10-May-07
Still looking for my old mate, we were RAF apprentices together 1969 to 1971 and I used to come up to get drunk etc etc at weekends. I lost your address when I got busted when I was in Germany. You'd be about 55 now. If anybody knows him please ask him to drop me a line.

Hi Nigel, I came upon your message by chance when I was looking for something else. I hate to be the one to tell you , but Nigel died in 1977. I was a childhood friend , did he ever mention Sheila to you ? It took me ages getting over his death , he was like a brother to me .He had been down in London a while , and used to come back to Mildenhall when things got too >>more

Hi Sheila, thanks for the information about Nigel. It was a little upsetting but not altogether unsurprising remembering what we used to get up to when I was stationed in East Anglia. He always was drawn to that lifestyle. I can't remember him mentioning you but I am sorry for the loss of a friend. I was lucky, when I was discharged from the RAF I found a good woman who kept me (relatively speaking) on the straight and narrow. We >>more

Three things I forgot to say in my 1st message, 1, We had the same stupid sense of humour (lucky as I was diagnosed with MS in '85, ,full time wheelchair operator by '92 ,life IS a big joke), 2, "Shine on you crazy diamond" & 3, leave your e-mail if you can handle the ramblings of a nearly geriatric hippy. Byee :-)

Hello people Whilst living within the Suffolk area between 1974-76, I met a number of US personnel from Mildenhall and Lakenheath Bases. Unfortunately with the best will in the world, as life changes people lose touch! I would very like to know if anyone remembers Richard or was in service with him during that time or knows of his location. Many thanks. Marlene

Large School Reunion by Richard Lambert (Member 213992) on 8-Nov-06
Dear Long Lost School Friends My name is Rik Lambert, you probably knew me as Richard then, and Jed was my nick name due to the size of my American hillbilly boots that I wore when times were hard. I was also the infamous boy who ran onto the end of a javelin on the playing field. That’s enough about me for the moment. The purpose of this letter is to inform you of a large school reunion that is being >>more

I used to live in Mildenhall on Wren Close and I had a best friend I met one of those nights when everyone hangs out in the middle of Mildenhall. We were bestfriends for years, shared our sorrows and silly moments. His parents lived behind the queensarms on queenway. We never dated. One day, his girlfriend of a couple months got pregnant, he was happy about it, kept in touch and kept me updated once in a while, then it became >>more

bird in hand 1950's by ALASDAIR WARWOOD (Member 150943) on 21-Jan-06
My parents,Kenneth and Nina WARWOOD, managed the Bird in Hand at Beck Row in around 1952-4 and my earliest memories are of living there. Has anyone any memory of us or any photos they could share. I was told the former postmistress had a photo of my broither Donald and me, Alasdair, dressed as a lobster and a chef at a fancy dresss party - possibly for the Coronation. I remeber the occasion but have no photos and don't know who >>more

He said he lived in Kenny Hill at the time but rumours have it he might have moved. He left so abruptly we never even got to say bye! If anyone knows him could they let him know Adrian, Aaron and James miss ya!

The Old Vicarage by David Intermont (Member 176404) on 24-Jul-05
I was stationed @ RAF Mildenhall from 1981 - 84. I lived off base in an apartment at the Old Vicarage. What wonderfull times/friends I had there. I was told that at the time The Old Vicarage was 400+ years old, and had originally had a tunnel. the tunnel was to keep the vicars dry to and from the church. I would love to find out more history of the OLD VICARAGE----Anyone? Thanks

Hi I am also trying to find out about the hidden tunnels/underground rooms in Mildenhall. this page: http://www.knowhere.co.uk/board/kb249/threads.html says a lot about it (scroll to the bottom) lots of posts on it there. I have heard one of the tunnels leads to the war bunker on the jubilee field but I don't know if this is true. I also know there is a tunnel coming out in the graveyard at st. marys church, but it is closed off and as of >>more
