What a great idea. Its only £39 a share so I have taken a punt. I've signed up and with a few like minded people we could do it. Being able to buy and manage our own team and pick the team every week and watch our dreams come true sounds great to me.

Alperton WWII bombs by Michele Noble de Lima (Member 208433) on 18-Aug-06
Does anyone have information about bombs dropped in WWII on Alperton? I am writing about my mother's life and she says her home was bombed while she was evacuated and that most of the people living in the street were killed whilst sheltering in a public shelter. I don't know the name of the road. Anyone info on this would be very helpfult to me. Thanks.

William Geipel Ltd by Michael Braden (Member 114234) on 20-Jun-06
I worked for this company 1945/1946-they were based in Manor Farm road, at the foot of the bridge over the canal. They manufactured electic cables. I still have the letter offering me the job! I still have vivid memories of the place. Would be pleased to hear from anyone else who worked there..

I was interested to see your posted message. I am using my maiden name so you will see that I am a member of the Geipel family which owned William Geipel Ltd. of Wembley and Bermondsey. My father was Sidney Geipel and my Uncles Kenneth Geipel and Donald Fraser. Fascinated to know you worked for the company in 1945 and still have vivid memories. Wonder who signed your offer of employment? I was born 1936 but visited both factories often. Best >>more

At my time at Geipel's, I used to get lunch at a cafe' on the road that lead up to Wembley, opposite the bus garage. It was housed in a rather quaint cottage, and one went down some steps to enter, and the restaurant was below ground level. The grub was good old English fare-roast, and two veg,Shephers Pie, Sausage and Mash followed by a choice if puds-prunes and custard, rice pudding, and if you were luccky treacle pud and >>more
