Lockwood by ray glynn (Member 175531) on 12-Jan-06
I am tracing my family tree and am currently on the Lockwood branch. I have delved back as far as 1784,John Lockwood who later married Martha Jackson. John was a Waterman as were most of the family right down to my Grannie, Sarah Lockwood. i have discovered several cousins in my quest and would be glad to share any info with others of Lockwood extraction. But beware, each Lockwood went on to produce 8 or 10 offspring and over a few >>more

  • Re: Lockwood by Pat Ellis (Member 233378) on 11-Nov-07
Hi. Just to say John Lockwood and Martha Jackson were my Great Great Grandparents. I agree with you about the number of children they all had. Regards Pat

  • Re: Lockwood by ray glynn (Member 175531) on 12-Dec-07
Hi Pat. If you are with Genes Reunited you can get hold of my family tree. Samuels son,John was my great grandfather and his daughter Sarah Jane was my Grannie who I lived with in Cleckheaton. There seem to be hundreds of Cousins in our tree but I have contacted quite a few. The tree goes quite a way back from Samuel and Martha if you are interested. Regards. Ray

Seeking DENTON family of Mirfield by Nelson Denton (Member 131336) on 11-Jan-04
Hi I'm seeking my kinfolk from Mirfield. The "Denton" family. My great grandfather was Armytage Denton born 1851. He moved to Canada in 1881. I've got most of the Family tree from his generation back to ~1500 but I don't have any living Denton contacts in Mirfield. I know my cousins are out there. They've been in Mirfield since the ice ages but we've not heard from them since ~WW1. I'm also related to just about every other family in town >>more

  • Re: Seeking DENTON family of Mirfield by ray glynn (Member 175531) on 16-Jan-06
Whilst trawling through the internet for my ancestors,The Lockwoods, I found in the 1891 census,John Denton age 27 wife Blanche age 21 son John Thomas Denton age 6. Blanches sister, Mercy Weston age 26 also lived with them at 99 Lea Green, Mirfield. Any help@ Ray Glynn

  • Re: Seeking DENTON family of Mirfield by Nelson Denton (Member 131336) on 11-Mar-06
I think this is them. So far I have no knowledge of how they tie in :-(( Mt g-grandfather Armitage Denton b 1851 Mirfield married an Elizabeth "Brown" - She was from Manchester but claims she knew him in England. This is odd since she left England for Canada as a 7 year old. I've often wondered if this William Brown was related in some way to the Denton's below and also to my G-grandmother Household: Name Marital Status Gender Age >>more

  • Re: Seeking DENTON family of Mirfield by ray glynn (Member 175531) on 15-Mar-06
It would appear thatWilliam Brown (Wife not yet named) and his daughters Mary Jane, Sarah Ann & son Joseph lived at 14 South Street. John H Denton ( Son-in-law) married Mary Jane and they had two sons teaber and Thomas Denton and the two families lived at the same address. Census takers were apt to getting a little confused with big families. Source is Ancestry.co.uk Any use to you?

Looking For Charlie Kingswell by Robert Paltridge (Member 102776) on 2-Oct-03
Does anyone know the whereabouts of Charlie Kingswell or know what happened to him? His father had a butchers shop near the Black Bull pub in the late 1960's and Charlie and his family lived on St Paul's Road. We both attended Mirfield Secondary Modern School in the mid '60's and were good friends for several years. It would be god to catch up with him again and swap stories. Any help will be appreciated.
