Hello I am in the embryo stages of setting up a website to help people tracing their family tree in Barton upon Humber in the 19th century. It is mainly tanscriptions from The Hull and North Lincolnshire Times Newspaper of the 1860's and 1870's at the moment but I am adding to it all the time. Come and check it out and see if you can find a long lost relative.Thankyou for reading this message. http://www.freewebs.com/bartonuponhumberfamilyhist

The message regarding JOHN STEPHEN MCCARTHY who killed in an AIR CRASH in ELMDON AIRPORT BIRMINGHAM ON APRIL 15TH 1951 is very significant to my family. We are trying to trace more information regarding this person who is believed to be my grandfather. JOHN STEPHEN had a brother called Dennis and his mothers maiden name was either TRACEY or TRAJEY. Please either post a message or reply if you have more information Thanks Julie-ann McCarthy

| Old Candle Factory | by Denise Douglas (Member 27979) on 22-Jun-06 |
|
Hoping someone out there might have an old photograph or postcard featuring the old candle factory at Barton, which was situated in Cottage Lane. My GG Grand Uncle, William Minto Rawson, owned and operated the factory between 1856-1894, after which it was taken over by the Humber Candle Factory. I would be very grateful to receive any information, or pictures, of the old factory, which I understand is no longer standing. Kindest regards to all, Denise Douglas (Australia).

I just found this site...I'm surprised. I have been there many, many times, I'm from Michigan USA. My Auntie lived there and my cousin. I especially loved the George Hotel and I knew a young man named Colin - you probably want the last name I'll give if someone is fimiliar with anything I'm saying. I have some old photos of The Volunteer Arms pub when Mr and Mrs Phillips owned it. That would be late 60's, early 70's a couple >>more

| Tina Peace | by Claire (Member 158109) on 27-Dec-04 |

Does anyone know what happened to Tina Peace? She left Baysgarth School around 1986 and went to Grimsby Art School. She used to date a hippy kid called Sam leech. The last I heard she'd married a local musician from Goxhill called Lee Drinkell and now has children. Does anyone know anything about Tina, or the Hippy, or Lee Drinkell?
