Oil painting (Hardaker) of Bingley Stocks/Market/Buttercross is on sale on ebay! by amienj (Member 229152) on 13-Aug-07
Excellent condition, signed Hardaker, iconic subject. Completed in 1753 at a cost of £12, the Market Hall, Butter Cross and the stocks were removed at a cost of £166 from Main Street to the Prince of Wales park in 1888, which is where we see them in this photograph. Trade at the original site was decimated in 1787 by an outbreak of Black Plague. The stocks on the left were still in use in 1870 - they were reputedly the last >>more

FAMOUS BINGLEY RESIDENTS by Dale Bunting (Member 192636) on 29-Jan-06
What about Steve George Senior? Surely he must be one of the most famous residents of Bingley in recent years. At one point in 2003 he was going for the title of oldest swinger in the north and he helped to put the Boiler House on the map with his ridiculous antics. The last I heard of him he was was living as a virtual recluse on Baildon Moor. Thoughts anyone?

I have read all the derogatory comments with intrest regarding 'porkys' and feel some things need sorting.'Porkys' is like a community center and is frequented bythe people it was designed for - locals.Bingley aint big, its only small so it only needs a small club and the only time we get trouble in the damn place is when outsiders come in (keighley, bradford) and cause trouble.i bet the people slagging it off are not from bingley.Bingley as a whole has a >>more

i hear shes playing football for doncaster belles

  • Re: miss waterhouse by Dale Bunting (Member 192636) on 29-Jan-06
I think she played for Doncaster Belles for few years after leaving school but gave it up in 2003 to become a bouncer at Porkies. When they were getting a lot of bother with young females the owners decided to bring Joanne and her auntie Jackie in to sort out the trouble and once word got around that it was her door the trouble ceased.
