Trying to Find I am looking to contact anyone related to either a Martha or Elizabeth Thompson born in Cumbria between 1901 and 1915. Their parents were Edmund Thompson and Edith Annie Thompson nee Simpson. Martha or Elizabeth moved to Morecambe and became a teacher there (possibly 1940's/1950's) and when Edith Annie died Edmund moved from his home outside Carlisle to live with his daughter. Does this sound familiar to you? I have been doing family tree search for years and I am happy to share any of my research with people connected to this family. Hello people. Im just wondering if some local person with a history of Morecambe could help me identify a structure in Morecambe?, i will try my best to describe it... this image i have is on a very old postcard - probebly around 1900-10. The caption on the postcard is very difficult to make out - but i 'think' it says "The Marlborough"?, the building is a large 4 story building and appears to be on the corner of a street called 'West End Road'?. The street level floor appears to be some kind of shop as there is a que of people lineing outside the door in Edwardian clothing. I have tried Googling the web for info regards this building - but as of yet i have found nothing mentioned about it. Any info would be wonderful. Kindest regards. If you want a really nice meal, or better still a delicious full English breakfast with generous portions and beautifully prepared and served, I would suggest Maggie's Cafe, in the centre of town, just off the promenade. The very first recorded computer was discovered amongst the wreckage of an ancient vessel off the Greek coast - it is estimated to be 2nd. or 3rd. century A.D. I am looking for an old pal from Ellesmere Port. He married a girl from Morecambe back around the early sixties or late fifties. Her name was Carol Brennan and her father owned a milk round in Morecambe. He came out of the RAF after national service and lived in Heysham for a while ( I believe ) Would love to here from him or Carol . We worked on the chemical plant at Heysham in the mid fifties.
