Am extremely pleased to announce that Valerie (member #148869) became my wife six weeks ago. I had intimated my intention to marry her in a post on the Manchester board on 11 December 2005 and she finally consented. I am truly blessed to have Valerie as my better half and look forward to married life which will not necessarily all be smooth going but will certainly be interesting. She's one heck of a lady.. Cheers to all.

Re: Armadale and Bathgate Websites
by Reef.Runner (Member 236355) on 7-Apr-08
You didn't make any kind of statement, true or false, you expressed an opinion which others could argue for or against. Had you said that the 'Gate is a dump then gone on to give reasons why that is your opinion, your opinion may have been given some credence. Expressing an opinion without any kind of qualifying backup puts you well and truly into the village idiot category. Now go ahead and give some reason(s) for your opinion that the 'Gate >>more

Thank you for your quick reply, as you sound highly educated I will make one or two points, an opinion once made public becomes a statement if everybody that typed something then had to give reasons for it we would be here for ever , I dont get into reasoned discussions with inbreeds whose first answer is personal insults because if you dont get the answer you would like to hear then it returns to insults, as you made a statement/opinion >>more

My name is Theresa Elizabeth Zwerling, Maiden name Fogarty. My Grandmother was Esther McIlroy Fogarty, I know that she was from Bellshill Scotland, at least that is what she told one of her daughters. Grannie didn't talk about specifics, and so I don't really know much about her life there. I tried to find some family there, I went and visited in 2000. No luck though. G'day Bruce. I don't know enough about the Knowhere Boards to give any advice on how long a post stays in red, it just does that's all. Sounds like you had a great trip around a bit of Asia. Sorry about the delay Bruce, had to go into dry-dock to get an old sports injury hacked around by the bone carvers and took a long time to recover. Thanks for your advice on the holiday destinations, especially about the cruising situation. A date to remember... 300th anniversary...

by Wingman (Member 119081) on 13-Jan-07

On January 16, 1707 the Scottish Parliament passed the Act of Union whereby the Scottish Parliament was disbanded and from then on folks living and voting North of the Border were represented in the "British" parliament at Westminster. A dark day for most Scots people who rejected the union and were denied a vote on the matter.

Death notice...

by Pusser (Member 109935) on 8-Sep-06

The death is announced of the Bathgate Knowhere Board. Until recently the Board was active and contained many humerous posts, notably the struggle by Valerie to subdue her arch enemy Bazsoap who has now been vanquished. Few attempts were made to resuscitate the Board as it slid into disuse and the many seemingly loyal contributors faded into obscurity very quickly. Where away the Aussie connection, and Wingman, but most of all Valerie. Will she ever return to grace us with her >>more

The "Death Notice" subject is jut about right for this post. Bruce - your theory about the hard pitches proved to be fact. The Poms were vanquished by the Ocker cricketers in the Ashes series. No, not just vanquished, they were humiliated and the praise heaped on Shane Warne is well deserved. I'm looking for any relatives of the Reid family that left Bathgate in 1926 to go to Canada. There was an article in the Courier some time ago that had a story and a photo taken around 1910 with 13 members of the family. The article listed several people stating that they were related to the ones in the photo. I'm decended from this family and would love to make contact with any other living relatives. Regards Donna

by GZP6 (Member 198943) on 23-Apr-06
"I wil try and speak the queens English if you prefer" This infers that you will do two things - "try" and "speak". One should try TO do something i.e. make an attempt. "I will try to speak the queen's English" makes much more sense. I am a pedant, always have been and hopefully always will be. A. Pedant.

Bruce. AVG is not too bad. You can download a free version from their site. Only problem is, it doesn't auto-update on the virus signatures. McAfee isn't too bad either. There again the free version is limited to 3 months use. Now, if you're a bit devious (not like me of course), and you have a program like KaZaa or Limewire you can see if anyone has an up to date full working copy of either. If not, you can look >>more

Oh yes, we were on the Falkirk board but I see your inane remarks have been completely deleted from most boards, the mods caught up with you at last. No Scottish twang on your latest post here Baz, like some of your others, have you been converted or perverted? The content of you post is just as stupid. When, if ever, will you be joining >>more

Hi Ian, That must be a bugger of a commute, but there again, isn't Brighton full of buggers? Is that the cute Carol Ross who used to live on Balbardie Cr., friend of Ena McDade? My mum still lives in Boghell and comes to visit me every year for a month. I was last back two year ago, drinking in the Kaim Park and Barr's with Jim Moffat and Dougie Peden. Do you remember those guys? I was thinking of moving >>more

AVOID THIS SITE! Jane Wiggs pay-pal site will cost you to look at it. Jane. Glad that youre telling everyone in Britain that youre English. Like when ever I put a comment on any of the Knowhere sites, I always let everyone know my nationality. I know that Jane Wiggs is not your real name, and that youre not English. I also know that a pay-pal site charges anyone to look at it. If you are a drug pushing lowlife scum, >>more

I was wondering if you could help me find someone? I live in Canada and I am looking for my aunt & uncle What I remember is ...(it has been over 20 years) His name is John(Jack) Fraser (in his 70's now) Her name is Rosaline Fraser (not sure of the spelling) They had 2 daughters in the early 80's. Aunt taught at Bathgate Academy in the late 70's. I think they lived in West Lothian (or near) John was my >>more

Hello Betty Fraser Morgason. I sincerely regret I am unable to assist you with your search as I too am a long way from Bathgate, in fact further away than you are. I have received no response to my query on the whereabouts of Betty Stevenson which I posted in July 2004, no-one seems able, or willing, to make a few local enquiries and post back. I suppose that's the way things are in Bathgate now. I hope you have more >>more

I think I found my aunt by looking farther into the BA web site. She still works there!! I have emailed the school and will wait until classes resume there (probably next week) We had 4 inches of snow fall yesterday (not really alot compared to Buffalo 60 miles from here in Hamilton Ontario) But thanks for replying to my email and have a great safe New year!!

Saw your posting by accident. I think your dad, Campbell Cameron, of Hamilton Ontario, died 13 June 1978, husband of Ellen Little, was my uncle. My grannie was Elsie Fraser (nee Watson) latterly of Kelvin Cottage, Forres, died 8 July 1976, wife of John, married 11/4/21 in Forres, who died 18/9/59. My son is named after my dad and Derry, one of their other brothers. I have a letter here from Grannie dated 11/4/75 to me where she is talking about >>more
