Fancy owning a football club? by Jack Pott (Member 212784) on 30-Nov-07
Fancy part owning a real English professional football club? Join a fans consortium and buy a club from the lower leagues and you will then be able to select the manager and the team. Copy and paste this address into your browser to find out the whole story..... www.thepeoplesclub.com

What a great idea. Ive signed up and with a few like minded people we could do it. Being able to buy and manage our own soccer team from the lower league, picking the team every week and watching our dreams come true.

Don't be taken in. If it seems too good to be true it usually is. Tiddlywinks is much more fun anyway.

Soaring Phoenix comes to town by A Colton (Member 103718) on 28-Jul-07
The rock band Soaring Phoenix are new on the scene and hail from such unlikely places as Hamstreet and Kenardington. Following their gig at the World's Wonder last night, they will perform everything from The Beautiful South to Black Sabbath to Grieg's 'Hall of the Mountain King' next Saturday at Images playgroup's fete on Saturday August 4th from 11am-2pm. Come and see for yourself...

UK Flooding by Marcus Suitor (Member 58800) on 27-Jul-07
We often hear about foreign countries needing help in one way or another and many are quick to jump to do their part. The time has come however where the need is much deeper, much closer and more serious than before. The time is now and the place is here at our very own doorstep. It is understood that not everyone may be in a position to lend a helping hand due to own personal or financial circumstances. It is understood >>more

  • Re: UK Flooding by A Colton (Member 103718) on 28-Jul-07
Great cause and I hope people give generously. Unfortunately this deranged weather is just the beginning. With global warming we will be seeing much, much more of this kind of thing. Combined with generosity when these incidents happen, there is much that can be done - buying energy saving bulbs, switching to a green electricity provider (Ecotricity), not leaving TVs on standby, unplugging chargers, turning off lights, using public transport where possible, buying local food from local shops, offsetting yout transport >>more

The 666 Devil Bus by Herbert TheTurbot (Member 208285) on 20-Jul-07
Even more stupid that ring road complaints is people who think the 666 Ashford to Faversham bus is a place for devil worship. The firm who run the service played on the number 666 and have a cheeky little devil on the bus, I think it's cute. Some stupid woman in the KE went off on one about religion and being a Christian. Get a life you sad cow. Do you celebrate fireworks night on the 5th of November??? Well then >>more

  • Re: The 666 Devil Bus by Hakr (Member 174627) on 23-Jul-07
I got thrown off that bus once. All I was doing was trying to slaughter my fatted calf while chanting... Bit off really.. Really though - I think the bus with the devil sign gives the town a little bit of character and shows a some signs of humour, its nice to see and should remain...

  • Re: The 666 Devil Bus by Paul Goatox (Member 193348) on 25-Jul-07
The use of this number is actually a mistranslation from the book of Revelation anyway. Fundamentalists need to grasp the history - the times and circumstances religious texts were written in. At this period in history Christians were being persecuted so a lot of what was written is in code. It is quite possible that the number 666 merely represents Nero.

Is this the bus to Faversham via Kennington, Shelwich and Hades?

Ashford's New Two Way Ringroad by Herbert TheTurbot (Member 208285) on 20-Jul-07
After the first week when the timings were a bit out the ringroad is flowing like a treat now. I can't believe the amount of no lifers who slag the thing off in the Kentish Express. It's a road, that's it a bit of asphalt that you drive over. The fact you have to wait a few moments really pisses some folk off.

  • Re: Ashford's New Two Way Ringroad by Hakr (Member 174627) on 23-Jul-07
I quite like it really, going the other way gives me a whole new perspective ;)

  • Re: Ashford's New Two Way Ringroad by Paul Goatox (Member 193348) on 25-Jul-07
It's still a novelty for me as I don't drive round Ashford much. It seems to flow better the wrong way round than it does the right way round. If it doesn't work they are going to turn it all back again in two year's time anyway. If they are too scared to nick the idiot boy racers I suppose redesigning an entire ring road is the next alternative. Well done lads, you can put your caps back on the right >>more

  • Re: Ashford's New Two Way Ringroad by Buster (Member 118428) on 25-Jul-07
I've got a Bora which would eat their cars for breakfast and leave them feeling like the bufoons that they r. Dunno bout the ring road though. Is it still the a292?

Bromley Green? What that little road between Hamstreet and Ashford?

  • Re: Streaming media group in Kent by Paul Goatox (Member 193348) on 25-Jul-07
No, I think this is a post by somebody from outside the Ashford area. Say Sugarloaf and he'll think you are talking about very sweet bread. Say Stubb's Cross and he'll think old Mr Stubbs is getting angry again. That kind of thing...

I hate clubbling. I hate the repetitive artless music they play. I hate the aggressive lager fuelled shaven headed yobs that view a fight as imperitive to a good night out. I hate the exorbitant taxi fare home because not everybody lives in the town. I hate the rage incidents that occur when the heaving masses spill out and into the kebab shop for some lard spread on bread. I hate the fact that if youdo meet somebody nice from the >>more

Question by Alan Crownacre (Member 193168) on 26-Mar-06
Ever had that dream where you have just got off a train and walked out of Ashford station along Elwick Road and there's a large articulated lorry blocking the road with traffic queued up behind it and when you look back, you can actually see the M20 heading off towards Folkestone in front of the North Downs with all the cars stacked up along it and in front you can see the tower of the night-club and somebody is walking about >>more

Does anyone know anything about the 3 family shootings in June 1932 in King's Wood.

  • Re: King's Wood shootings 1932 by Paul Goatox (Member 193348) on 2-Apr-06
    Is that Kings Wood, Challock?

  • Re: King's Wood shootings 1932 by simon (Member 103171) on 31-Oct-07
In 1932 a Soldier, Pte James Collins of the East Kent Regt (The Buffs) made his way up to Challock from Ashford walking. He was was passed by two women and a child in a car. At the top of the hill on the edge of Kings Wood he found them preparing a picnic. His mind snapped and he shot all three of them with his service rifle. He then went on to London in their car. He was subsequently arrested >>more
