In the early 50's I can remember going here and being 'put-out' by gas to have a tooth filled.
It was terrible. Its was just in front of Leytonstone football ground. Where Linda Cooper lived.

I have rather good memories of the clinic. I had a rather longhead and at the time it was considered a sign of inteligence (how wrong can they be) so I was always shown round.

There use to be a female doctor called Dr Gilgrist, I think. We used to get our polio jabs there.

When we left school we had to go there for a ... more >>

I remember Miss Gilchrist. And the dentist - oh dear! Gas - awful! Miss Gilchrist also used to do health visits at school. I went to Davies Lane, and will never forget having my long and very curly hair combed, and the nurse's disappointment when she didn't find anything living in it!!!!!!!!

Yes I remember that clinic I use to visit quite a bit has at that time I was a bit weak.
The nurses use to give me consecrated orange juice and cod-liver and malt it tasted great.
I was at Norlington Road School at the time.
I lived in Grove Green Road after being bombed out in Carnarvon Road Leyton in 1944.
Cheers, John Porter.

I remember this clinic with horror! I was just 8 years old and mum told me I was just going for a check up (my first ever visit to a dentist). I recall sitting in the chair on my own in a room when suddenly a hand came over my shoulder and clamped a gas mask over my nose and had 6 teeth taken out. I am now 67 years old and can still feel that mask over my face, still smell the rubber and most fri... more >>

that clinic was called the polio centre, my teeth are in a terrible state now all due to the fear of dentists i got from that horrible place, i can remember the horrible woman who worked there used to hold you down while the dentist forced that rubber mask over your face & hold it there until you eventually had to breath & then pass out. they would get nicked for child cruelty these days, quite rightly too.
