and at least once or twice going all the way to the end to Kempton Park Race Course. My friend Lesley Evans lived in a flat in South Road. The first pub I ever got served in was the old Brown Bear, alas they tore it down for that godawful overpass, and I hear the Hanworth Carnival is a relic of days past.... I used to cut across Hanworth Airpark to Feltham Middle School from which I escaped at the age of 15 in 1972! I used to go by the name of Lesley Holloway. I remember we had a "village policeman," who was always on foot but his name escapes me. I remember the Swan, the Jolly Sailor, and of course, the Horse & Groom! The Hanworth Youth Club--yeah, that kept us out of trouble! As a smaller kid living in Whitton we used to play on that side of Crane Park. And from age 7-11 my friend and I used to travel from Whitton on the bus to Saturday morning pictures at Twickenham Odeon, and then hang out at Twickenham Swimming Baths--which I now hear lies dilapidated.... We also used to go over to Eel Pie Island. Most people now know me as Elly and my married surname is LeBlanc. I have lived in California now for 25 years.

I used to live in hanworth from approx 1966 til 1981 I went to crane infant and junior schools,my favorite teacher was Mr Dent lol I was a member of the brownies at my local hall,I lived in basden house and on the corner of watermill way.Have loads of happy memories of my child hood.My maiden name was Chalk Reply

I used to live on Main Street, Hanworth, in a detached house at the entrance/top of Bunny Lane. My Mum was a teacher at Lindon Bennett School, and my horrible stepfather was the caretaker approximately 1969-1972 (which is how we lived in the house). He was always at what was originally the "Half Moon." I remember playing along Bunny Lane a lot, picking blackberries in the summer along the way, and at least once or twice going all the way to the end to Kempton Park Race Course. Also the swimming baths at Twickenham did indeed lie delapidated for a long time but they are now gone & there is a childrens play park there now and a coffee shop. Reply
